The 20/20 cricket world cup kicks off next week here in England and aside from looking forward to the match i am going to at The Oval (should be England v Australia as long as they both get through their initial groups) i believe there is a massive price on 1 particular team.

Pakistan are currently trading above 10.0 on Betfair.  This is a team that has lost just 3 of the 17 20/20 matches they have played, one of those being a last over defeat to India in the final of the 2007 world cup.  In Shahid Afridi they have one of, if not the best 20/20 batsman around, and they have a bowling attack of great quality (even without Shoaib Akhtar and his STD's  Grin ).

The way the format works, as long as a team qualify from their group they know which group they will be in for the second stage.  With that in mind, as long as Pakistan beat Holland and/or England, then they will qualify for the second group stage, where the hardest group they could have is Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.  They CANNOT meet Australia, South Africa, India or England in the 2nd group stage.

Providing they make it through the 2nd group into the semi finals, there odds are likely to be around the 3/1 mark depending who they have to play and what their from has been like.  Then will be the time to trade and lock in a guarenteed profit.

For what its worth i have £100 on them at average odds of 10.2.

at 9's im taking any team with Shahid Afridi

One terrible mistake is that they didn't include Imran Nazir in the squad. A must have batsman for them in 20/20

I was on them for last night's game (much to my disgust!) as SA are just serial bottlers.

I still think the winner will come from the other semi though.

I'll give you even money on whoever makes it out of SL and the Windies?

I went to the game at Trent Bridge, best atmosphere of any cricket game I have ever been to. Would be amazing to go to India vs Pakistan game.

Burning money if you feel either of the other two is a favourite!

For the Windies I'd agree but I think Sri Lanka are the best side in it. Too tough to call though. Pakistan's bowling has been sensational.
