The West Indies national anthem sounds rather like the soundtrack for a 1950's Western movie to my ears.

It was a great tactical decision to bat first in a match which was almost certainly going to be Duckworth Leeeeeeeeeewised (say in Inspector Morse type accent)

Don't know much about cricket, but just out of curiosity, since this was only a 20 over game, why did they have to use the D/L method at all? They had flood lights, why not just continue the game from where it left off once the rain had cleared? It's not like they would have been playing until 2am.

ICC answer- Thems the rules before the start of the tournament. Real Answer- Fk knows makes little sense practically but ESPN/Sky have TV schedules and viewers to please. It has been happening for nearly 2 decades since the farce that was the 92' world cup semi final (England were the winners that time) and they haven't changed it.

It is better than any system for rain delays we have had before in cricket and is based/adjusted on actual cricket matches that have happened. It may not be perfect but it is the best we have got and I really doubt you could think of a better system to deal with reduced over games.

I'd wait for the rain to stop and then finish the game but then I don't have to pander to tv companies quite simply there was absolutely no issue with fitting 40 overs in today under lights in cases where it doesn't clear up then I'd finish the game the next day anything is better than just handing the game to the team batting second. I could probably put together a team from people I know who'd get close to knocking off 80 in 9 vs england

yeah its slightly annoying for them to bludgeon out in this manner, typical england cricket really, show you how terrible they are and then give false promises as to how good they could be. Cricket matches like this (and most sporting events) should imo always be played out to a conclusion or just be cancelled if they aren't completed and then replayed another day as long as the logistics arent too onerous. I was watching this in running on betfair at the same time and at one stage I think england, when bowling, went down to 1.4 so it wasn't all one way, but I do wish it was just played out in a fair way and that the better team on the day wins.

West Indies have really peaked at the right time. Their reading of the duckworth lewis sheet has come on so much in the last 6 months.
