1204 BST: Liverpool have signed Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani for £15.3m. (Spanish newspaper Marca)
Bye bye Alonso, decent replacement by all accounts. Sad to see Alonso leave England though, I've always enjoyed watching him play. I've not got a clue about Alberto - a decent player by all accounts, but liable to break. Sounds like Kewell/Owen. Exactly. 108 games in 6years - not good. He should be well rested... Bid for Alonso accepted and Real wanted a non-disclosure clause meaning they paid the full £30 million. I would much rather Defour than anyone we're linked with but I'd prefer Aquilani over Poulsen.

Just read that. Wonder how long it will stay 'undisclosed' for.

We're also meant to be interested in Poulsen from Juve? Also talk of Lucas leaving to go to the Corinthians.

Sad day, was really hoping he'd have a change of heart. Were gonna miss him and Poulsen cannot do the same job as Alonso, he's a poorer version of Mascherano. I would love De Rossi but then again im not playing fm.

Lucas out! lol I dont mind him anymore to be honest his second half of last season was far better than the first half. I would actually give him a chance unless it was a good offer.
Defour>Aquilani>Poulson IMO.

Why not get Schneijder back in a deal for Alonso?..Surely 5mill would get you Schneijder these days.Real are desperate to offload him...and he's not on a ridic salary.

He's off to Inter for £18m odd apparently. I'd love him at Anfield.

Alonso could well be madrids best singing this summer in terms of how important he'll be to the team,wp benitez trying to shove him out last summer for less money than barry who's not even close to alonso's level never understood it at the time and could now majorly cost liverpool in there title persuit

3 players to fill Alonso's void
Senna
Javi Martinez from Bilbao
or Defour from Standard Liege
Also a lot of players are now starting to play in the CL qualifiers which will make them cup tied.
Views on Bassong pls, esp Newcastle fans

Will be a good deal for us imo if we get around 10-12million for him. That said the fact he came out of last season looking like a good player in that defence with that team i would guess he'll go onto to be a very good player

Bassong was our player of the season, though that in itself says nothing. He is as quick as anything out there, which helps him out when he dies make the odd mistake. He's comfortable on the ball too. About 100 times better than Dawson, 75% of a fully fit woodgate, but with time to improve. I think we might have got him for free, so if we make £10m on that it would have to be good business for both.

I'm looking forward to seeing Carl Cort play again, bug name signing for my new 'team of second interest'.

He is working his way down the league at quite a pace, completely ineffectual for Norwich on a short term contract end of last season.
