I'll be honest i didnt like that/didnt find it funny when i saw it when it first came out.
probs cos of the show it was from(cant remember what it was called now) was total unfunny shit.
I've always liked tom cruise even if he is a weirdo who's in an alien cult, i think he's underrated as an actor and he always seems to go out of his way to make time for his fans and he just seems like a pretty cool bloke.

lol @ thinking this is funny. This is from that "balls of steel" shit show on Ch4, filled with people who genuinely have no sense of humour. The show is aimed at the intellectually challenged. Pranks of the lowest order.
I assume the conversation at Ch4 went something like this;
TV Exec; "That Punked show on MTV is rather popular at the moment, we should have a show where people do outlandish pranks on celebs like that"
Other TV exec; "Yeah, that's a great idea! He sets up these really elaborate pranks on people, it's superb..they never see it coming!"
CEO of Network "Fuck that, we don't have the money to set up eleborate pranks...the BBC won't even give us more of the license fee for god's sake...stingy fecking bastards...I blame that Dicky Attenbrough fella. Who the fuck wants the look at nature programs...unless you're cutting animals open, noone gives a shit"
Tea lady "Well, I saw someone spout water into someone's face ones..that was quite funny....I was 5, mind"
CEO of Network; "FUCK me, she's got it! That's hilarious and cheap!" Points to TV Exec "YOU'RE FIRED! Why can't you come up with good ideas like this? Back to the cleaning the canteen with you!". Points to tea lady; "You!..you're now on 80k a year...keep these brillaint ideas coming!"
That roughly is how they came up with the show.

I didnt think it was in the slightest bit funny, stuff like this is usually funny if they either get the guy with a great prank or if they get the guy to really overreact and break from their public persona. Cruise is a great candidate for this, but the prank was awful and last minute, I think Cruise took it well under the circumstances.
