That’s it for today.  23 players left with 28k average chips.

The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k.  “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi.  Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

In the region of 50 players played today

was it allan mcllean that finished 2nd overall at the luton event in august?

None other - & a true giant of UK Tournament Poker.

His Database of Live Tourney cashes stretches back about 15 years, & few, if any players have cashed in as many Fessie Events as Alan. I think he's accumulated nearly $800,000 in winnings.

No idea - maybe more than he's won, I don't know. I just know his "winnings" are more than most players could ever hope to achieve.

When I first came to poker, I actually thought that Player Databases such as THM were having a laugh. They list winnings, but not losses. After a lifetime in commerce, that stat seemed to me to be meaningless. (As indeed, it is). It's like, say, Gross Profit, in business - it means nothing - Net Profit is the number that counts.

But all Live Poker Databases work the same way - cashes listed, losses not mentioned. It's a complete & utter nonsense, but those immersed in poker long enough gradually come to accept them as some sort of yardstick. And by that yardstick, Alan is as good as most in UK Live Poker.

I wonder how many other prominent Circuit players, or even Online players, have his longevity in the game?

Allan is also an interesting case I believe, as he was a LAGgy maniac well before the style of LAG came to the fore. He, Eric Barker, Ali Mallu terrorised the festival scene in the UK for about a decade and a lot of opponents didn't have a clue how to counter them

The festival scene has moved on, everyone knows what Allan is about style wise, yet he still gets results. Some achievement I feel.

Agreed, 100%. He's over 70, I think. The game has changed during his career - several times - yet he's still there.
