CHAPTER THREE. AGATHA CHRISTIE: The case of the missing out-draw.
Rockstar got up from the bed and ran his hands through his tousled hair while Rockella lit a Camel and inhaled greedily. Down below the Doorbell rang, chiming it's distinctive Def Leppard tune.
Rockstar went downstairs, passing the Gold discs and collection of Gotcha's on the upstairs landing. He opened the door and in front of him stood a wizened old lady. In the distance at the end of the drive a Bentley was parked and he could discern two shapes in the semi-darkness.
"Good evening young man" said the lady "Are you Mr Adrian Rockstar?"
"Yeah" drawled Rockstar "Wassup?"
"I am Miss MDD Marple from Bletchley and my client Mr Kajagoogoo would like a word with you in private"
"What about Miss Marple?"
"Well I will have to tell you that if you come with me young man. Why don't you pop on some skin tight jeans and see what Mr Sudoku has to say?"
Rockstar was intrigued. He made his excuses to Rockella who was starting the nightly five hour job that was the brushing of her waist long hair and followed Miss MDD, who shuffled and stumbled up the drive at Gotcha Towers towards the Bentley.
Opening the back door of the Bentley as they arrived was a man in a peaked cap, jacket flecked with cashew nut shells and looking uncannily like Kermit the Frog. Only without the charm. Or the money. Or the Charm.
Kajagoogoo beckoned Rockstar in with one hand, while the other stroked a White Siamese Cat. Rockstar sat on one side and Miss MDD wedged herself between them.
"Mr Rockstar" Kajagoogoo mumbled almost imperceptibly. "Tonight whilst I was finishing my Killer Sudoku I lost with Ace Jack suited against Ace King off. It was the first time I have lost an all in confrontation from behind all year, and I need to know who is responsible. I have appointed Miss MDD Marple as my detective in my search for the culprit"
Rockstar gulped. His immediate thought was why they had alighted on him as a suspect. After all he only ever played big pocket pairs in good positions. Ace-King off was well outside his comfort zone. He did not have a 79.4% cashing record in sub £50 tournaments at Luton by playing Ace-King off now, did he?

oh Simon you've ruined it now - where's all the mystery and romance that Chompy so brilliantly delivered?
Oh you love all that mystery and romance. But admit it, if they aren't banging like a shithouse door in the wind by chapter 12 you'd be less than impressed...
yes, of course you're right, but it's all about the build up, the tease - innit? I'm half tempted to write my own story to show you how it's done

CHAPTER FOUR: The Villianous Fiend revealed
Kajagoogoo invited Rockstar to Chandra Towers in Hampstead Garden Surburb where apparently eight of Luton's finest had already been assembled by MDD Marple as the search for the infamous "Man who had a hand stand up" would be revealed.
Rockstar was asked to sit in the front of the Bentley, and spent an unpleasant journey listening to Kermit's tales of wanton debauchery involving Kalooki cards and Peanuts in the Luton car Park.
On arrival butler Premji welcomed the final guest into the Chndra Towers sitting room. There assembled round a roaring log fire were the assumed culprits.
Lolling by the fireplace, standing on a box so he could reach the mantelpeice, British Gas. Some say his playing style had become becalmed, more conventional. A dangerous opponent for sure. Certainly well capable of beating Ace Jack suited on a good day.
By the bookshelves stood McBride. Jim McBride. The legend of the lottery win, a man who can be relied upon to dish out bad beats, and dish out Melvyn to those who bad beat him. A candidate for sure
Sitting on the Poof, Lionel Flaum. A kindly gentlemanly old fella, never so dangerous as when playing any two from anywhere whilst talking about the lake at the bottom of his garden.
At the far end of the sofa, Dennis Barnes. Sitting alone, in a fug of fart smells, Rockstar watched as the Tourette's took hold as Barnes stood up every thirty seconds, banged the side of the sofa and shouted "That's what I am talking about, Go Team USA!" to no one in particular
On the chair in front of the Bureau, Red Shirt, the man with no name. Or manners. He too was afflicted as he described to his neighbour a hand from the night before "I knew he had Aces but I thought my Ace-ten might be ahead on the ten high flop, so I went all in and guess what, he had Aces? Would ya believe it? Knew he had Aces I did. Rivered a ten, obv"
Listening to him Bingo Bill. Big of stature, small of brain, little did Red Shirt know that he had lost Bill after the first sentence. Bill took to nodding, as he had been taught by his forefathers, and waited for the moment to pass until he could once again do five buy ins to Murray, Shirley and Ade and the like on the dealers choice table by playing K 8-4-2 (four suited) to a re-re-re-raise from Gino at 4 Card Omaha High
There remained one sofa, on which sat the final pair of reprobates. Fenland Paul and Queen high Betty. An unlikely couple if truth be told, though it does explain where QWueen high Betty learnt the game. If not the taste in jewellrey, or the advanced knowledge in B-Road back routes to Wisbech from Luton
Kajagoogoo banged his enormous gong and the room fell silent. Miss MDD Marple cleared her throat, thought to herself that it wouldn't have been like this if they still had national service, and begain to make her case.....

I think I'm gonna have to - it doesn't look like Tighty's version is leading to any action. At least I hope not with that cast.

er, ok. It wasn't going for the bodice ripper market, but can plunge heartily in that direction if required. Might need to introduce a character or two though
