I hope to go this evening now that I am back on the mainland, with casinos, cardrooms and Internet access (isle of Wight was a very nice break with the family, but ooh it's good to be home).

Have to follow on from Glens quotation about Denis Barnes still was on the fence with this player until last night.

Hand 4 he's on the button, UTG riases to 225 all pass to denis and he makes it 875, UTB flat calls. Flop Two Clubs. UTG checks denis fires out 2700 UTG calls. Both check turn UTG checks river Denis pushes UTG thinks thinks thinks says i cant put on quads and finally calls both players turn over kings. GC by UTG athough doesnt put denis on any ace combination hand. 10 minutes before end of level 2 late entry sits in posts his 150 denis raises mid position with  to get two callers flop comes  to which limp caller bets denis calls turn limper bes denis nw tih his str flsh flat calls, river prs with  limper bets denis pushes limper calls and says fh denis get shis two pistols out and a couple of whoop whoop str flsh baby etc yee hahh and we then see limp caller actually has bottom 2 pr  so denis has just been gifted 10000, he is now upto around 30k.
I am now moved to another table and think gl to him for a change as hes played two big hands very well and got a nice stack early on, however im grinding away as usual only to be redrawn when down to last 4 tables and denis is redrawn to my left, he now has around 6400 left bleed hs stack away on marginal calls with kq qj etc to miss and pass.
Anyway he now decided to raise UTG into my big blnd wict  with the whole table to act behind him not giving any credit that somebody migth actually have a better hand than  when lalit in cut off looks over counts his chips and makes it 4200 to go we all pass denis says all in lalit snap calls turns over bobbys. Flop blank blank blank turn blank river lalit gives him the meduse stare down mutters something, me and xpressman roll each other eyes up at each other and we move on.
After starting of well and giving him credit for uping his game im now back on the fence again with his play.

[  ] USADennis sizes his bets perfectly and is all class at the table
[X] He'd still be above compatriot Jeff Buff in the league, though, so therefore can be declared best the G's USA player of 2009

Fourth for me Chompy.  Loving Snitches efforts to tilt MDD - FAIL - and Snitch now has a new nickname of The Drunk after he announced 'I'm calling anything I'm drunk' and proceeded to luck box and ladder his way to the final 3.

Very funny all night - this is so like the old Luton - Thursdays is deffo 'I remember old Luton' night, there are enough old school there to comfortably take the mick out of the young guns and feel safe in numbers.

Nirvana the official winner.

Sadly though after a few merlots he has all the humility of Pol Pot on a Killing spree when wielding his big stack. Humility is clearly is not de rigeur in the hallowed circles of informants, narks and snitches. His attempts to needle Mr Lynch, a veritable poker hero, were most unedifying and brought oppobrium on the Pol Pot family.

Mine was a "good" 5th drawn on an initial table immediately out of position to "the future of Snap" Mr Wheldon who proceeded to bink every hand for two and a half levels on his way to 50,000 at 100-200. I trundled up to 20,000 playing small ball, executed a delicious bluff on Cold or Bold and then the table broke.

I broke to the immediate right of Avi Darvish. Who spent the next hour alternately singing ancient Hebrew tracts, only several octaves away from aural sensibility, and teaching the table the poker principles that have clearly served him well over the years, though sadly not at poker. Fortunately Dingdell and Avi aside the table (including John Juanda's stunt double, Stephen Dour and the Latvian Lamb) was born in Gibraltar, had rocks for breakfast and small boulders for lunch and these had clearly got stuck somewhere in their back passages as they "fold grimaced" their way through (or not, in two cases) the final two tables allowing me to nick enough to get through to the final in the absence of anything to work with whilst stacks on the other table winged around like Alex Martin in a turbo.

Over and above this naming Dingdell's exactly hand to her five times in a row was a highlight. Though not for her.

Lost three 60-40 and 70-30s in the final which would have got me a good stack and in the end pushed once too often.

Very enjoyable night. Next time I won't be too scared to ask Pol Pot for his autograph.

Well done all that cashed. Managed to shove 12 bb's and get a call from MDD and a re shove from british gas which MDD promptly called. Knew my 7 2 was in trouble and sure enough it was as MDD had AQ and BG had KK. Obv MDD got there. Highlight for me was MDD giving nirvana poker lessons and advice on how he played a hand wrong.

Great comp tho, very enjoyable.
