LMFAO @ 32 runners. I don't understand it imo. The website is still showing November tournaments and literally nothing has been spent on advertising this festival week.

When will they learn?

NEVER!!! Never ever. Never ever ever ever.
Tighty, Tikay and Snat seemed to give up a while ago trying to make a difference to the shambles that is G Luton.
I'm on a one-donk crusade on here re: whinging about the website and lack of advertising, not that it'll ever change anything prob.

PS, the festival still doesn't show up no the official Grosvenor website and is highly unlikely to until it's over imo. GG.

PPS, tonight's 32-runner affair just about counts for points in the league.

[ ] Their Marketing Manager sure is good.
[X] They sure do deserve all they [don't] get.

wiiii, glad i slept in. when will cardrooms stop this dumb incentive that the bigger the comp buyin the better the structure? its prejudiced against the smaller players and would single-handedly increase fields across the board, as once players come to play one, they often stay to play 3/4.

The funny thing is that any of us think that Grosvenor give a stuff about us. Let's be honest here they don't. I am not talking about the cardroom staff by the way. The G is a pub/nightclub that has a bit of gambling on the side. It is more interested in getting people in to drink bottled beer on a Friday and Saturday night than it is in promoting a festival.

From what I can see the poker room is high maintenance needing a lot of staff. They make more money from a person standing behind the bar serving drink. A bigger question for me is why the empty restaurant? The non promotion of this asset is quite unbelievable.

If it were my venue I would put doors on the cardroom and turn it into a nightclub. That at least would make sense to me.

As to my motivation for going there. I am not sure I even understand why I go there apart from the fact that a few of my poker mates do. Chompys league and this site have been the only marketing that the place have done this year and Kevin is right we should all play somewhere else but we don't. Maybe I should talk to some people and set up a poker club but lets be honest a] there is not much money in it b] many have tried and failed.

Maybe a silent protest. All the cardplayers go on a Friday night and don't play poker. They stand round the bar linked arm in arm and don't let the drinkers near it. I have stopped caring tbh

Congratulations to Jeff Buftybarger for winning last night's STT and netting himself a belated first win of the campaign.
If memory serves Mr B tore up the Christmas Crapper last backend and I wouldn't bet against a repeat performance.
15pts take him to 22 for the year and ease he's relegation fears, taking him above X-Man.
The major interest left in the league, aside from whether it will be Celtic or Snat that chases home TFOP, is who finishes in the bottom three, and who takes the wooden spoon (to be presented by TV's Tony Kendall on New Year's Day).

Yup, it's the 2nd day of the GUKPT 'Champion of Champions Festival' and the Luton G website advertises       ...........      the previous month's schedule!

Hardly surprising only 37 turned up!

good post snatty

by the way there is a better well run casino that plays 4 nights a week less than 6 miles from the G. shame the establishment doesnt go fully dealer dealt because if they did they would empty the G of customers pretty easily imo.

there is a poker club every friday in dunstable that is dealer dealt  Grin Wink

Ask anyone at the G and they'll spiel out the same old guff, something like...'We sent the new schedule across in plenty of time and there's no more that we can do. It costs £1,500 to get anything changed on the website once it's up there.'

People rely on the website, more than anything else, for tournament information. If you're not going to update it, why bother? It didn't get changed until the 13th last month and then they still managed to miss off Monday 30th, the first day of the Festival.

Did any normal Tuesday night players turn up last night looking to play the £30er?
