surely it would be more fun to not bother going to the gym at all and just spend the year laughing at cos as he tries to drag his arse to the gym 4 times a week for the sake of a grand. you could just post daily updates about how you've gone out on the lash and are now having a lovely lie in

No idea how accurate the things are that measure % body fat (electrical resistance/inductance based, I assume), but is it worth posting the changes here, if weight isn't really going to change? Could be interesting.

I tried one of those body fat scale things once. It registered me as something like 20%

I then picked up a 10kg weight and tried it again and it said 28%

I've never trusted them since.

Would be very interesting to do if there was an easy accurate method though.

At my gym they do it with little electrodes. I haven't bothered with it in ages though so can't say how accurate it is.

If anyone wants side action, I'm willing to bet I don't miss a week of the bet.

Will offer 2/1.

Does this include the 4 weeks holidays?

Nah, I might be willing to do all 52 weeks of the year though but not at 2/1.

I also think the 4 weeks holidays are just about perfect because the body needs a little rest but not too much.

Do you think I lose by this?

In fact, if I'm training the whole year I'll see it as a pretty big win.

Yeah when I was training hard we'd always have a rest week every now and then. It's very good for you and can provide a good boost after a period of no growth.

I think doing all 52 weeks would be ridic tough. At some point you're going to get an injury of some sort.

I guess there's always something that can be trained though.

I'd sure be feeling smug at the MC when Cos was there looking good playing for free and I was a fat lazy bastard.

Zero win in that plan for me unfortunately. No surprise really as it's the easy option.

The real winning option is usually the toughest to accomplish.

day 1 shoulder press, day 2 deadlift, 3 bench, 4 squat, whatever assistance stuff you like, up to you. 3 weeks on 1 week go light, just really nice smooth programming, ebook is short, only take a minute to read it

Found a decent link that explains it pretty well. Can't see what more the e-book could have to say about it tbh.

http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance/how_to_build_pure_strength

Seems to encourage starting very light and slowly progressing whilst incresing your 1 rep max.

It's only a 5lb increas in bench press every 4 weeks but that would mount up to an extra 65lb in a year.

Not sure how this would work for me just starting out afresh. Would probably have to do a month to get some basic strength back before starting.

Would've been very interested to try something like this when I was at my peak.

EDIT: Another decent looking link: http://www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/hardcore-look-at-jim-wendlers-5-3-1-powerlifting-system.html

Might give this a serious go a few weeks/months in. Looks the sort of program to help you out of a stale spell.

I don't know the excersices that much. Any chance someone can chuck me a 4 day a week programme on here please? I got pretty buff/lean last year at 1 point before sustaining an injury that kept me out for 4 months and then xmas came upon us so i ended up getting a bit chunky again, just started back with some serious cardio for the last week.

Think i'll be a bit bored just hitting the same routine as before, i want it to be 30 minute max (lunch hour). Machines are pretty basic at the gym i go to, no smith machine.
