If i want to do the opposite then should I be doing long sessions at the gym, low intensity?

No. Longer sessions but maintain the intensity to the best of your ability.

When you do short sessions you should be able to maintain a constant high intensity level.

With longer session you may need more/longer breaks between sets.

This is just my opinion on the matter by the way. There is no science to what I'm saying.

If I was looking to lose weight I'd be doing weights and cardio combined with a healthy low calorie diet.

If I wanted to gain weight (which I've done before) I'd be doing weights with no cardio whatsoever combined with a healthy high calorie diet.

Don't do more than 8 reps for any excercise. Make sure that the last 2 or 3 of these reps are difficult. If you think you could easily do another 4 you need to put more weight on.

lolz, I had to read this 3 times until I realised you didn't mean that if the exercise is easy you need to get fatter

If you want to lose weight consume less calories than you burn.

If you want to gain weight consume more calories than you burn.

Pretty simple really.

Try to make them good quality calories where possible but don't be afraid to have a cake every now and then.

Don't skip any meals. It's better to eat something shitty like a kebab than to not eat at all.

Keep gym sessions as short and intensive as possible. 30 minutes absolute tops and don't do any cardio except possibly as a short warm up.

Don't do more than 8 reps for any excercise. Make sure that the last 2 or 3 of these reps are difficult. If you think you could easily do another 4 you need to put more weight on.

Outside of the gym do as little work as humanly possible. Don't walk if you can drive, don't run if you can walk. You get the idea??

Just try to do as little as possible that will burn calories.

As a big fan of my diary I am sure you are aware I'm trying to drop a few stone.  I have been trying to eat breakfast everyday (cereal) but after a late night yesterday this morning I was late and skipped my shreddies.  When my 'bacon buddy' offered me a buttie this morning, should I have taken it on?

EDIT - It appears you are helping somebody put on weight, but I heard from a fat lass at work that skipping breakfast is bad for 'slimming' is this true?

Had a really good gym session tonight. Strength coming back fairly quickly.

Warmed up with a few light sets on the bench, then managed to do 10 reps of 80kg, 8 of 85, 6 of 90.

Did Flies with 17.5's and then chest Press, mainly with 25's but I did get one set of 6 reps with the 32.5's.

Finished chest with some incline bench.

Then did some forearms and finished with abs.

Just came home, had some plain chicken breast and a carrot and coriander soup. Early night for me tonight to catch up on some sleep.

Just pop out and grab something or eat a banana. My opinion is that it's worse to have the bacon butty as that's pretty bad for you.

Nothing wrong with bacon IMO...the butty is bad for you though...white bread is just not on.

If it's fried that's not great.

Also, bacon has a lot of fat on it.

I bet it's eaten with lots of butter + sauce too, as well that roll.

Yeah, I can't remember the last time I had bacon from a roll van or something but at home I have it occasionally.

Just buy proper bacon (no added water etc), don't use anything to fry it in (as you said,; plenty of fat in bacon and most of that will come out when you "dry-fry" it) and it's fine.
Some eggs, good quality sausage added and job done ..oh, and a tiny bit red sauce Smiley

I never use butter..unless I make myself a very nice steak or something.

Unless you're trying to cut up just have the bacon butty with as much white bread and butter as you like.

As long as it's a one off treat it doesn't matter.

Unless you combine it with loads of other bad stuff it won't make 1 single bit of difference.

If you eat kebabs for every meal for 6 weeks then have a salad that salad won't make you thin.

If you eat salad for every meal for 6 weeks then have a kebab that kebab won't make you fat.

It's all about moderation. If you allow yourself an occasional treat dieting is more bearable. Just don't over do it.

Yeah I'm a binge eater as is apparent from my shape invariably over the last 10 years bar  Cheesy

I'm actually finding this eating well pretty easy on the whole, I'm surrounded by cakes, chocolate and crap. Still I've managed to maintain totally over the last 2 weeks bar my 1 'cheat day' so to speak. Sunday I was going to gorge on a curry nan etc. In the end I just had some chocolate and ate as I would on the week day, I felt shitty enough from a few daim bars so didn't order takeaway. Working well though as I managed to drop 4lbs last week with 0 cardio, legs tonight which should be amusing when my legs look like they belong to Michael J Fox after about 1 exercise

I'm glad I haven't had a strength bet with Cos though as when we spoke he said we were at very similar strength levels. I've got no muscle memory though as the only lifting I've done is other prop forwards in the scrum. Cos has flown passed and will no doubt be bashing 4 plates out shortly.  I'm moving up slowly though and hope to break 100kg by xmas. When I started I could just about do 6reps with 40kg in Sept lol. I think keeping a blog helps too as it keeps you somewhat accountable if people can see it. In reality I could just sit at home walloping KFC and nobody would be none the wiser until I show up looking like Mr Creosote at a comp somewhere 6 months down the line lol.
