Congrats on the increase for the DB Matt
Had my last scheduled blowout before Vegas on Friday. Went to a friends wedding and drank a truck load.
Back on it tomorrow

Steady progress with the dumbells.

I expect a couple more weeks of increasing then it's going to get tough.

I've got until Christmas though so no rush at all. It's just a case of keep getting stronger and it'll eventually come.

A note on my diet for those interested.

Unlike when I've trained before I'm not being very strict.

Last week I had 2 curries, 2 pizzas and kebab meat and chips amongst my other meals.

I've not restricted anything at all which is making this much easier to tollerate.

If I want to get drunk I will do. If I want to pig out I will do.

Fortunately I don't seem to naturally carry too much fat so I can get away with it.

I guess it helps with walking the dog a few miles every day. That must burn a whole days worth of food by the end of the week.

You almost tee'd me up with an awesome joke boo but i can't pull the trigger.

Good stuff matt - nice stuff with the dumbbells.

Do you ever do chest stuff with an olympic bar or is it all dumbbell work?

Not much at the moment. Today I did incline with the olympic bar before db press but only 40kg. Goal was lots of reps so it was plenty.

I won't be doing any flat bench work whilst I'm targetting the 50kg dumbell press.

It'd be too much flat press work.

I don't want to miss a dumbell session so I can't do barbell.

Maybe if I hit a plateau I'll switch for a while to barbell to try to refresh things.

I expect this might happen when I get to around the 40kg mark. Steps up from there will be pretty tough.

just finished what is probably my best session at the gym.  I'm approx 4 weeks in and am starting to feel the benefit.  Its obviously only small improvements but in all areas that I work on I'm better now than when I started.

I am pushing myself more and more which is pleasing as I do have a tendency to be a bit lazy.  I'm just shy of a stone lighter so that obviously helps but I can run/cycle/swim further and faster and feel less tired after which is great.

I can see how people get addicted to the gym, the feeling is great after a good session, I sleep better and am less stressed at work!

My main weakness at present is on the diet side, I am not eating as well as I should, often going well during the week then over eating at the weekends, tbh I dont really mind this as my goal is not to lose as much weight as I can as quickly as possible, it is to make an improvement to my lifestyle.

I am thinking about introducing some weight training into my routine in a few weeks, won't be anything too drastic, just something to break up the cardio.

How are the big boys doing?
