Finally got back to the gym today after an almost 4 weeks lay off!!

It was great to get back but I was sensible and just kept the weights low to get back in to it.

Todays food:

8.00am - Breakfast. 2 whole eggs and 6 egg whites omelette.

1.00pm - Lunch. 225g turkey breast + tomato pickle.

4.00pm - pre training. Banana.

5.00pm - Meal replacement shake.

8.00pm - Flapjack bar

11.00pm - 225g chicken made in to curry + 50g rice.

I had a really busy morning so missed my mid morning snack.

This isn't a problem whilst cutting down but when I hopefully lower my body fat to where I want to be I'll need to be more careful about not missing meals than eating too much.

Bit of a bad food day today.

I had to rush in to work this morning so didn't have time for my omelette. Just had some cereal that the ex left behind that looked a bit like rabbit food.

Every Thursday I go for a pub lunch with my mum so I have to cope with whatever they have.

When you're dietting a bit of a cheat doesn't hurt anyway so this can count as my cheat meal.

To make up for it a little bit I skipped my pre training snack. To be honest after the large meal I didn't really need anything anyway.

I also didn't have any carbs with my dinner to offset the mashed potato.

Did a steady shoulders session at the gym which went well. Everything seems ok after the back problems. Hopefully it'll stay that way.

Missed breakfast this morning. Not a very sensible idea at all and definitely something I can't do when I've trimmed down to where I want to be.

I managed to sneak home so it wasn't too bad but I really must be better with this.

Training went well again today. I had a good back session and finished off with 10 minutes on my abs.

I haven't done any abs for ages but I figured that if I'm trying to trim my waist a bit I might as well put some muscle there to show off.

This is the usual cure.

Unfortunately that's what makes fat people fat.

Basically you just have to cope with it. If you have a goal that you really want to achieve I'm sure you can wait to your next meal?

One possibility is to drink a pint of water. Quite often thirst can be confused for hunger so you have a bag of crisps when a drink would do the same job.

If you absolutely must have a snack try to make it something low in fat which will satisfy your hunger such as a banana.

Even better why not just have half a banana? If it stops the hunger then half is enough.

If you're trying to lose weight then to be honest you should be hungry a lot of the time.

If you're trying to gain weight then you should eat before you get hungry, if you're trying to lose it you should be hungry before you eat.

You also shouldn't keep eating until you are stuffed. Just eat enough to keep you going. If you think you've had enough then save the rest for later. Maybe the bit you save could be one of your snacks later?

If you don't want to save it for later just throw it in the bin. It might seem wasteful but it's better in the bin than round your waist.

In answer to your question regarding myself; yes, I do feel hungry between meals. I actually feel hungry right now. Rather than eat something though I'm going to walk the dog then have my proper meal when I get home.

If I was in a weight gaining phase I'd have already eaten something before I got hungry.

It's all pretty simple stuff.

Quick doggy question for you Matt.  Was having a debate with someone today and want your opinion.

I've found that when meeting a new dog who's timid, I tend to gain their trust a bit better by getting down on the ground more to their level.  I put the hand out a bit so they don't feel they've been given an order to come, but know the smell is there if they decide to come forward and just sit and let them take their time coming to me.

The person I was speaking to insisted you just get tucked in and show them who's boss and get on with it.  They'll soon learn.

What do you reckon is best way to meet a timid dog for the first time?

take matts advice over mine, but i use your technique quite successfully (esp for timid dogs), low slow and holding out a hand

I just make sure that my face is not in a lunging reach just incase they flip.

With bigger bolshy dogs, i  much prefer the stand big control line -  firm voice and with your hand over their head (not directly - just higher)

i suppose feeling hungry is OK ....

another problem is if i get too  hungry i get a headache!
a problem i have suffered with since childhood....

obviously this is prettymuch the only time in my life i have been carfull to what i eat!!
i just learnt how many calories are in coke and virtually none in diet coke.....!
