A good night for the Mutual Admiration Society, with the top three all picking up a bumper 27 points thanks to Rockstar and Luther outclassing Raymond Donks, D'Artagnan et al.

Elsewhere, Celtic was the second best Scotch player on the final table of the £100er, the new slimline(ish) model squeezing out a sixth and 8pts for his legions of followers.

The Weekend.

Saturday - and having been severely warned by the Monopolies & Mergers Commission, Loofah trundled up to the G for his first comp since bloody Monday!

As per usual, the Final Table was achieved (with aplomb, I might add) in the forty pounder.

As per even more usual, most of the combatants sat like lemons hoping to make the money, and praying that the only two aggressors (myself and the wonderful Any Looooooo) would disappear, and allow them to call/fold their way to a chop.

Drainy, claiming to be intoxicated, was actually more befuddled by the rarified air of scaling the tournament heights   ….       so much so that he spent most the evening taking photos of his stack with his ipodicanaccesstheblondeforums24/7fromanydaftlocationwithwifidevicethingy and sending the proof positive to his poor suffering children (I kid you not), who allegedly celebrated the event with six cans of Stella, twenty B & H, and four ‘Es’ apiece.

Bowing out in 8th spot  – no money, no points - (essentially to comply with the MMC earlier censures) I wandered off safe in the knowledge that M15 and the single  inhabitant of St Neot’s were pleased with my performance.

Sunday – and it was the day for the proper poker players.

None of that soppy £100 bollox where fifty poseurs sit and scowl at each other for eight hours, whilst boasting how long their       ……………..…     latest flights have been in the search for a poker tournament that’s bad enough for them to actually cash in.

No, unbeknown to those outside the Magic Circle, Sunday’s are now the Edna Adams Omahafest.

Having cleared up the loot in the earlier re-buy, ably assisted by the Rockstar, we were summoned to join Her Evilness in her Event.

Only the very best receive the call to Arms, and 22 fine players (plus Tom Myland) that included the Hero of Helsinki sat down to contest         ……        obviously viewing the gaggle of confused souls in the distance (desperately trying to figure out if they’d got their two cards the right way up) with amused contempt!

Her Evilness didn’t win (shock, horror) and it was left to China to beg his Lalliness for first spot in the chop, in his vain hope of becoming a Blondeite Leg End       ……         ahem, not nuff runners Tom!

Well, those that aren’t totally non-plussed by more than two cards on view then continued a series of Omaha SNGs  - to be joined by the Triumphant Sellick – through until 7 am this morning.

So a reasonably successful weekend for the G formsters in the Foil the Fenland Fiend’s Fantasy Free For All      ……       and a nice result for the Gorbals Gangster!

Plus, contrary to malicious rumours of three digits (numbers, not fingers), Loofah’s qualifying comp totals were a mere 25       …..       degeneracy label avoided?

Summary
Briefly milder then very, very cold

As January draws to a close we can confirm that for the whole of the UK, December and January have been the coldest since the winter of 1981/1982. In Scotland it has been the coldest December and January since records began, way back in 1914. It looks like February will do nothing to bring the average temperature up a bit, in fact quite the opposite.

Is this some sort of euphemism of your poker career, Chompy?

I would not be at all surprised if Fry took over again till the end of the season. How I'd laugh. This squad is just like one of Fry's. Nobody knows who's gonna play, or in what position. And they're all fighting in training. Izale has only been there a month and was left out at the weekend for disciplinary reasons. It's just like it used to be.
In truth Posh fans probably like this deep down. We are the moaniest crowd in the world. Happiest under-performing and ekeing out 0-0 draws with Exeter on a freezing Tuesday night.
"Get the ball on the ****** ground Peterborough!"..."Fry, you're a digrace!" man that stands behind me will be most pleased.

Next cold snap = no racing for a week = a week in Vegas Luther. Bink!
