I was so close to pointage in the £100 last night.  In fact I hadn't even got my coat on and left the table when 'saver for the bubble' discussions started. it was like rubdown Monday had come early Smiley Enjoyed the whole afternoon/evening though.  Thanks for the cake vinnydonk.

I hasten to add that the young man concerned got a severe slap down from me about having no class!!!! He was of course next out when he rather stupidly walked his A 10 into my superlative A 7!!!

Unlucky Claw, you played well last night,

The guy next to me Grabbed the prize Breakdown sheet which was next to me on the table when you went "All In" and as you went out he started to talk about the saver before you left the table, that's why i gave him a sarcastic answer !!

When you left Snatty told him to have more table manners and wait till you had left the table, and i told him that he should have some 'etiquette'

Well played by all , and handsome Paul played really well to TID with the minimun of fuss as Chompy would say !!

Absolute carnage! It's all change at south/east/central/lesser/greater Acton...and maybe the end of the line for Sir Flipzwellalot.
Treble points has changed the texture of the top completely. Maybe British Gas should consider a similar move. Stop washing your jumpers at 300 degrees Gassy!
45pts go to Sir Bernard Of Concrete Mixer, 36pts to G-Rodge and 27pts to Celtic, who built a mega stack before getting slow-rolled by D'Artagnan at the final table.
But what about the main event? Well, table four was like watching a Daniel Negreanu tutorial video, as pupil no.4732 fought it out with pupil no.6917. Not much three-betting, plenty of pot control, a pleasure to behold.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waCJETmhi0c&feature=related

I was going great guns too but then lost a 50-50 to Evil (EV11 EDS, EV11 EDN and EV11 LED all still available from DVLA). Then lost my first flip to an MASer. All pretty standard.
15pts to Handsome Paul, 9pts to Expressman, 6pts to Snatimaras. Watch the latter sneak up that table this month, I feel a Secretariat-like surge coming here.

Yesterday's triple points exercise proved a resounding success, with plenty of leaguers taking advantage in the £5 rebuy, so...

Tonight's £50er will ALSO be triple points, yep.

Quick Announcement

Graham "Chompy" Wheldon has done this thread for two years now, with a short hiatus mid this year for Drainy (succession planning was never Chompy's strength) and me to take over the league tables.

To say that the Luton threads in 2009 and 2010 were successful is an understatement. Both are in the top 5 "replied to" threads on blonde, all time, and in the top 10 most viewed.

However more than that they represent the epitome of what blonde is about. Community spirit, plenty of humour, much ribbing and at the same time loads of information. Chompy has done more than anyone, including the venue, to promote Luton and done it with panache and elan, much via this thread.

A couple of weeks ago Chompy said to me that he would like to make his latest exit from the thread and the end of the year seemed like a good time to do so. He blamed three things

1 Drain Alien. This had taken a particular toll on him

2 the Sicilian. No longer could he regard himself as Dean's poker equal, and this was weighing on him heavily

3 Drain Alien. Just to make sure I'd got the message.

but seriously, and without wanting to sound too stuffy, what a contribution Chompy has made. Thank you, well done and cheers.

Looking ahead we'd like a new thread to emerge for 2011. the blonde "community" at Luton is strong, and this thread is part of what leads to such great "craic" at the tables and makes playing at Luton such fun for all of us.

I can do the 2011 thread, but if any of you want to do it, please let me know. You'd need to be a regular blonde member, able to update it daily and be willing to suffer the brickbats that follow teasing all league members at regular intervals. Let me know. If not, you are stuck with me.

Finally, to Chompy once again. Thanks

Well said Tighty.

I hope Chomps reconsiders, but if not, he'll be a real tough act to follow, & very few are capable.

GREAT stuff Chomps, Tighty got it spot-on in his Post.

For better or worse, I pretty much only go to Luton-G because of the craic & banter on these threads has built up some terrific friendships.

Without a Chompy thread, I'll be at Luton-G a lot less, that's for sure, & I'm not alone in thinking that way I suspect.

BirdForum's note of thanks to Chomps, & words of encouragement to Drainy, will be worth the wait.

Chompy - step up to the mark like Ann Widdiombe, don't be like Gillian McKeith. If you really stop gl and thanks sooo much - its been brilliant. Tighy's good but he hasn't got a stripey jumper. xx

My lords, ladies, guests and donklemen,
Thanks for those kind words. Not Celtic though. Still sore about not winning the raffle last night obv.
The time has come. It's time for change. A new era. A bright dawn for a bright new Luton thread. It's been fun. More fun than ripping on British Gas's fluffy jumper even.
Tighty is the man to move things on. Not in a Matt Cardle does Biffy Clyro way, more in a Sven takes over from Paulo Sousa kind of way.
Just looked back at last year's thread. That got a measly 5,538 replies (less than 5,000 from Drainy). Gay, I'm sure you'll agree.
This year's has got 8,596 and over 100,000 views (less than 99,000 from guests). That's more than Tikay's diary!
But it's not done yet, oh no. There's still a trophy to play for. A trophy which Alex may or may not have put up for sale on ebay. Good luck to all. To most anyway. Aah, fark it, Go G-Rodge, you can do it!
Sweaty Terry is coming round on 29th December for the swearing in, swearing out ceremony. Tighty already has a set of robes ready from his brief summer stint. Let's gogogo.
