I know there have been countless threads about these, but what do peeps think about this deal:

Any better ones out there?

Why not just connect through your phone?

I guess the technology on a 3G phone is just as good?
Can you get as good a tarrif as 15GB for £15/mo on a phone package?

I had unlimited* net for free with my phone.
(unlimited = limited, but I nothing I would get near with occasional use).

I can wireless tether using my phone, but there are a few reasons I could do with a dongle. One, in one of the places I would use the dongle I get crap reception on my phone (through T-mobile). I know 3 works OK there.
Secondly, I will be able to claim back some (or possibly all) of my dongle expense.

The offer I linked through to gives 15GB, which is probably far more than I'll need but it's nice to have just in case. I know someone who uses a 3 dongle in one of the locations where I would use it, and the other would be in London - so I guess it'd be OK there. Other places, I'll have both the dongle and my phone as a backup for a connection.
If there are any other deals about, then I'd be interested.

That's one of the best I've seen but I'd only go contract if I was definitely gonna use it heavily every month.
Ju and I have a 3 dongle at home for backup and its great for use as long as you're not downloading or streaming. Web/Skype/Poker is all fine.

First thing you need to do is get root access to your phone, which is difficult to 'maintain' unless you're a geek (like me).
Actually, I think that there might be tethering apps for non-rooted phones, i'll have a look. I'm sure you've done a search on the market already though?

There's that app, but it's $29 for the full version...

If you gain root access make sure you change the default password, or you might find your phone gets hacked (has happened to lots of iPhone users).

Not a fan?
Who did you change to, when was this, and who would you recommend?

It works very differently to the iphone. But I guess there's still a risk of the superuser access being abused by someone.
