Since when did Dell own Alienware??

That's really annoyed me as I use to love Alienware stuff but now I just see them as mass produced stuff like Dell products are.

Yeah i was not too happy but still got the Dell "Alienware" XPS, would not recommend the powerfull ones for lugging around travelling though. It's heavy and 1hr battery life.

The Dell M1730 17" that Longines mentioned has a 9-cell 85WHr Li-Ion Battery. WTF does that mean and how long will that last if i am playing 10 ish tables?

Im Pretty sure they got electric in Aus mate!

I have a Dell with the 1920x1200 screen, and the screen is immense.  Can 4-table on ipoker with virtually no overlap (it does very slightly, but not enough to cover any buttons).

Beast of a laptop though, and definitely more of a desktop replacement than a laptop for use on the go.

I'm leaving my job soon, so will be needing another laptop, again mostly as a desktop replacement.  Think I'll be looking for another with a similar screen, as it really is good.  Very limited choice though from the look of things, and I'm going to have a look at longines' links to see if there's anything for me there.

The Dell Studio 15 is available with a 1920x1080 screen. That will (obviously) be a couple of inches smaller but also a couple of pounds lighter than the 17" version. If your eyesight is up to very, very small pixels it may be a better option for travelling.

Question for you sir.  I had a quick look at the Studio 17, and it doesn't have the WUXGA screen (or whatever my 1920x1200 screen is on my Vostro), but some true-life mutlittouch something or another.  Do you know if the screen it has is any good, as the rest of the spec looks decent to me?

Just had a look, and the option is for a 17.3” 900p (HD+) TrueLife WLED Multi Touch panel

Surely with these screen res you can 9+ table with no overlap on mini size screen no?

With mini-size I guess it's no problem.  I don't use mini-size though, as I can only manage 4-tables of cash at once and use HEM's HUD which works well on the full-size tables.

I am also looking at new laptops... I'm sure that when I first looked at the link put up by longines, the LCD option did actually state 1920 x 1080.

It's definitely all of the above however the screen is 1366x768 i.e. it has less than half the pixels of a 1920x1080. Not ideal for multi-tabling IMO.

Dell quite often change their options based on component stock levels etc. If you really want the "new" Studio 17 with a 1920 x 1080 then phoning and discussing it with a sales bod may well get one.

Alternatively, the "old" Studio 17 can be ordered with a 1920x1200 LCD.
