never watched 24 before

watched s1e1 last night.

was ok

You can probably quit right there. Nothing much else happens in the next eight days worth of shows.

Except for some of the most fun TV you'll ever see.

Always avoided it because I don't really like Keifer.
Wonder if I'll go from tolerating him, or grow to actually like the fella

If you're expecting/wanting something profound don't persevere, but do crack on if you want some top drawer 'conflicted good guy saves the world' action.

Bauer is a boss!

If you stick with it, you will love the guy. Best action hero IMO. He would beat Jason Bourne if that somehow became a thing.

Quit after season 1 IMO and save yourself about 160 hours of your life.
Overrated, repetitive tosh.

I did this and have never regretted it.  It is the kind of show that basically splits the posters here right down the middle and Marky has basically got it spot on.  There is so much great TV on at the moment that you can easily miss out on stuff that isnt absolutely to your taste.

On another note I have started watching Line of Duty Series 2 which I am loving but I didn't watch Series 1.  Does anyone that has watched both think that there is a chance that something from Series 1 is going to come back and be relevant in series 2?  I have S1 ready to go and could probably watch it in a couple of sittings if neccesary....

My Dad has watched the first two seasons of 24, and just the 1st season of Breaking Bad, and he thinks 24 is better, I was pretty much speechless tbh (and I'm a big fan of 24).

If he gets to the end of both and keeps the same opinion will probs just gg the relationship.

Surely he's the only person in the world that holds this opinion ?

I actually see his point with season 1, like most of the great shows the payoff comes after you invest the time in it (ditto the wire and recently house of cards).

Obv if he still feels the same after Gus Fring comes in and the scene with Jane, parental divorce innit

I'm with him on this and I watched every episode of both. There are a lot of programmes miles better than BreakingBad.

Can't wait to finish HOC then get into True Detective.

I just wasn't taken with 24 at all.  I ws mildly interested to see what happened and that was enough to keep me going through s1 but I was never watching more (and I watched every season of Dexter!!).  That said whilst I enjoyed the first couple of seasons of Breaking Bad they didn't grip me.  I had the first three seasons on DVD and I didn't watch until about 3 months after I watched S1 so it was something of a slow burner.  I do also think it is starting to get overhyped a tad.  It is definitely one of the best TV shows ever made but it doesn't touch the real greats for depth imo but I am a bit of a sucker for stuff like reading between the lines of books characters are reading etc which is why True Detective is so great.

Yeah I said it's only because he hasn't watched enough of it, divorce ftw if needs be.

24 seasons 1,2,3 were amongst the best TV watching I have done. Jumped the shark a bit after that, but still wouldnt miss

Breaking Bad I have yet to get beyond episode 2 in complete boredom. Three times I have tried!!

I really, really liked Breaking Bad, but I can't disagree with Milli on this one.

I definitely preferred the Wire, and Sopranos to Breaking Bad.

Thinking about it, I enjoyed Friday Night Lights more than Breaking Bad Smiley
