Here are my bets so far for day 1:

Supreme Novices: I have layed a massive bet on Dunguib at evens. I am purely doing a Blatch and hoping the price moves out. Although he could be anything, he hasn't proven himself out of the top drawer quite yet and with doubts over his jumping I feel sure he's going on the slide. I'm looking to trade out at 2.2 or 2.24 for a juicy freeroll.

I've also had £200 ew Menorah @ 14/1 and £100 ew Get Me Out of Here @ 7/1

Arkle: Captain Cee Bee is a favourite to oppose in my opinion. I feel the Cheltenham fences will be his undoing and 9 is very old to be winning an Arkle. Somersby ticks all the right boxes for me and I'm heavily involved with £400 ew @ 11/2.

Champion: I can't get my head round this, I feel it's wide open. The only bet I've had is £50 ew Zaynar @ 8/1. I'll probably stick at that, unless I have some massive flash of inspiration.

Mares Hurdle: I had a massive negative for Quevaga at the start of last week, but instead of laying it I just went in head down on Voler La Vedette having £800 ew @ 5/2. The sort of bet you would never be layed at any other meeting. I'll probably trade the win portion of the bet but keep the place getting 5/8 about a true 1/3 shot.

I've had no bets in the handicaps yet, usually wait til the morning of the races to get involved.

GL everyone, keen to hear everyone elses bets for Day 1.

Keith - anything that may change with your bets if any drastic changes in the going?

They won't let the ground get faster than good. The taps will be turned full on.

The betfair market makes soft 250 and heavy 500, so the chances of anything unexpected are remote in the extreme.

It will probably open G/S and firm up through the week and be good for the Gold Cup. That's what has happened recently anyways.

Agree that Duinguib will drift, crazy price at the moment imo and bookies will look to take it on.  Haven't had a bet in the race as yet but Get Me Out of Here would be my idea of winner - totesport trophy form is always strong, and v impressive for novice to win that.

No strong opinion in the Arkle, I think Sports Line may be the best of the Irish (not keen on Cee Bee or Sizing Europe)

Backed Medermit in the Champion @ 33/1 and dont see any reason he cant be in the shake up in an open year - prob hopeful rather than confident... I do think its the sort of horse that will be at its best running at championship pace in large field so fingers crossed

Backed Voler la Vedette @ 3/1 couple of weeks ago in Mares Hurdle.. I actually thought there was a big chance Quevega may not run after being off all year not having ideal recent prep - and even if she did turn up was a fair chance the price would drift - obv pleased with how this is working out although bizarrely everything I have read from mullins suggests he's really happy with her

Heard on the grapevine that in terms of the Mares Hurdle, the owners of Quevega who placed £100,000 on their horse, Quevega to win the race last year have had £40,000 on Voler La Vedette to win it this year @ 7/4.

I will be having an in depth look at some of the outsiders in this race.

Only bet so far is £50 win on Get me out of here in Supreme Novices with Paddy Power so I get stake back if Dunguib wins.

Will have a proper look tonight at the rest of the meeting and the weather forecasts for the week ahead before getting a few more on.
