EPT Monte Carlo thread
«
on:
April 23, 2010, 01:44:36 PM »
PokerStars is pleased to confirm that the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo has not been canceled following the chaos caused by the Icelandic volcano. The event will run from April 25-May 1 as scheduled.
Under normal circumstances, seats won by PokerStars qualifiers to PokerStars live events are not refundable or exchangeable. However, owing to the changeable travel situation in Northern Europe, PokerStars is providing 'EPT credits' for future events to players able to prove they cannot reach Monte Carlo by April 26. PokerStars is also allowing players who have won or bought a full package to Monte Carlo (including hotel) to give their hotel room to another player.
Any high rolling blondes who are playing, please let us know
I will update the thread as the event progresses

Just read this on a pokerblog
Unlucky Mr. Flushy
5.48pm: The Roumeliotis roll
James Dempsey and Alex Roumeliotis both went deep last week in San Remo - and they may have played the odd pot against one another there. If so, it was Roumeliotis who learned the most about Dempsey's game as the Swede has just sent the English pro to the rail.
Dempsey raised to 800 from mid-position and Roumeliotis made it 2,500 from the button. Dempsey called. It was the two of them alone to a flop of J♥5♣4♦ and Dempsey checked. Roumeliotis bet 2,900 and Dempsey now found the check-raise, making it 7,200. Roumeliotis called.
The turn was the T♥ and Dempsey led for 16,000. Roumeliotis took a while, pondered, and then said: "Do you have king queen?" Dempsey didn't answer, but Roumeliotis moved all in, covering Dempsey. He was obliged to call.
"You got it right," Dempsey said, and showed K♣Q♦. Roumeliotis had J♣9♥. Dempsey had outs, but the J♠ on the river wasn't one of them. Roumeliotis took it down and is up to about 120,000. -- HS

It's often said that the sign of a great player is someone that can lay down kings pre-flop and if that is the case then Moreira De Melo has entered that canon. The Dutch Olympian raised to 300 from the cut-off and was three-bet from the button to 700 by Haykel Vidal. Moreira De Melo then made it 2,000 and was swiftly five-bet to 7,000. Moreira De Melo sat and stared then pushed forward a total of 17,000. Vidal wasted no time in moving all-in for his 30,000 starting stack.
Moreira De Melo looked a little sick and asked Vidal: "Do you have aces?" "Yes, I have aces," replied the Spaniard. The Dutchwoman eventually folded kings face-up and was shown the bullets for her troubles. Moreira De Melo is down to 12,000. -
