Have been trying Swift Key X...latest generation of strong-AI-based input software....Not bad. It can be linked to Gmail and Facebook so that
it can 'learn' your grammatical and linguistic style
.
Can't find it on Market, but there's a free version floating around on the web as apk.
Aaaaarrgh!!! Surely it would be better if taught you* correct grammar and linguistics??
[*Not 'you' personally, necessarily.]
I hear what your saying, maybe they can make an add-on for that for those of poor grammar. If teachers can't learn it to pupils in school maybe its too late anyway.

My contract's up and I've been eyeing up the HTC One X, now available on all networks.
3 seems to have the best package for my needs, and I'm definitely leaving t-mobave a question for anyone on 3, who has an android phone. They're asking for an additional fee each month to allow tethering. It's not something I'd be using that often, but it's a very useful thing to have from time to time. Does anyone on 3 use tethering without paying the additional charge? I know there's a usb tethering app available (not from the market) that can bypass any software blocks, otherwise I guess I'd have to wait for a modded version of the os for the phone to become available.
Any geeks on 3 can advise?

I had a nice simple weather app. At a glance next few hours, easy to set location, not too many bells & whistles.
It stopped working so I binned it. Any suggestions for a new one?
Found what looks like a suitable app.
'The Weather Channel'
The trouble is, it wants permission to send sms, make calls, write to my calendar etc. WTF is that all about?
What about the Met Office?
Will have a look Jon.
Is it data heavy?
This turned out to be an excellent app. Cheers Jon.

really like switfkey
took a fair while to get used to it but it improves with time as you say it learns your regular words e.t.c

I had a One contract, monthly rolling (One is the only one that allows tethering?). It's all you can eat data, as in *unlimited*, people leave it running at night to download movies. £25/month sim only.
I put the sim in my netbook, 3 detected this in about 20 mins, blocked it. Has to be in a phone.
I had another non-tether contract with 3 before, they detected tethering in about 10 days, blocked it. 3 guy said with some pride that they have the best algorithms for detecting who is tethering (volume/type of files etc). Much faster detection than O2 etc.
Worked pretty well when I had it, I'd wifi tether mostly. Just don't fall asleep on the phone with this going on, it gets incrediby hot.

I wouldn't be using tethering to take the piss, so hopefully I'll be able to get it through without flagging anything up on their system. Just there in case my broadband goes down to get onto the web or if I'm out and about somewhere and need to do something on my laptop.
Anyway, phone ordered and will be here Tuesday hopefully.

gl. I used Barnacle and PDAnet sometimes for tethering.
Phone looks amazing, look forward to hearing the low down

So there was a system update for my phone last night which I installed now I seem to have lost all my music and all my photos, does that sound right? Can I get them back? Not fussed about the music but the photos I could do with.

Doesn't sound right. The music and photo files should still be there.

That's what I'd have thought, they've gone though.
Need to Google some more, but they might just reappear in a day or so.

Attach your phone to your computer with a USB cable and when it pops up select "use as USB storage device" (or something like that) and then use windows explorer to hunt around for them.
If you can't do that get Astro File Manager Free from the Android Market and see if you can browse around the phone to find them that way.
