Looks amazing, can you let me know the names of the apps that you are using if they are not pre installed

They are mostly pre-installed... plus these on the last page

3g Watchdog Widget
Internal Memory Widget
SD Card Memory Widget
Gauge Battery Widget

Apps downloaded thus far, free unless price shown

ESPN Scorecenter - Good
Golf Channel - So so
Golfshot GPS ($29.99) - Excellent
Ultimate Holdem Timer - Excelent
Handcent SMS - Good
MSN Talk - OK
eBay - OK
Google Sky Maps - Not really played with it.
Missed Call - Supposed to be good, but old number not ported til tonight, so no missed calls!
Barcode Scanner & Shop Savvy - waste of time
Google Shopper - Un-installed
Wi-Fi Analyser - Could be useful if you start getting wifi probs.
Wi-Fi Fixer - Not sure what it's suppoed to do!
Cab4Me - Haven't needed a cab yet.
Bet On The Move - Betfair app, not used in earnest but looks like it will do the job.

I assume you do it the same way it is done on the Desire, since they have the same operating system.

Have a look here - http://androidforums.com/htc-desire/84650-show-us-your-desire-homescreens.html - everything discussed here for the Desire should work on the Galaxy S.

There is also a Galaxy S dedicated board - http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s/

Instant Heart Rate App - Cool

Stick your finger over the camera and it displays your heart rate.

Note: It works better on phones with a flash  LED... this alone makes the Desire far better than the Galaxy S! thumbs up

Because it run on flash Sky Poker will run in a browser window on an htc desire.Tiny table mind you and because of Sky's short action time you dont really get time to zoom it.

Got my upgrade today - the HTC Desire.  Now rooting it before I set it all up with the modded ROM.  How to do this is here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Full_Update_Guide_-_HTC_Desire  if anyone's interested.

Just picked up my HTC Desire (replacement after losing the last one...sigh) and stumbled on to this site  www.appbrain.com

Sign up with them and download appbrain to your phone.  You can surf for apps from your pc.  Pick and save what you're interested in on their site.  Then download the lot to the phone when ready.  Saves battery on the phone by having your search already done on the pc.

http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser/

I much prefer this to the standard browser. Allows for tabbed browsing and can run flash.  Fennec is in beta, which is firefox for mobiles. However, it's huge and at the moment doesn't allow you to install it to the sd card. So until it does, I'll be sticking to Dolphin.

The difference between Froyo (android 2.2) and previous versions is unbelievable.  The phone is 5 times faster and far more stable.

Love the built-in wireless and usb tethering, point-to-point sat nav a well as a lot of small features all over the place.

I find that this does all I need in a music player - Music Mod

And for those that want to see where they've been - My Tracks

And if you want your bad beat stories to be mathematically accurate (and even more boring!), then this is a must have - Poker Odds (€1.00)

Nice.  Sad, boring and annoying.  Sounds right up my street!

'Tis a good site thumbs up

You don't have to download the apps to your computer first though.  You can click the 'QR' button on the page of the app and it'll show you the QR code that you can scan using the app 'barcode scanner' and then you'll be able to go directly to the app in the market to download it.

That's the QR code for the Poker Odds app.
