To Action Man: Sure I have steamed; much more when I was younger. It's primal and it's unavoidable; in some instances. I'm teetotal and that's been a life-saver. I have seen one or two poker players who play better drunk than sober, but they are truly the exception that elucidates the rule. Sequences of events in my younger life, taught me the futility of 'losing my rag' Testosterone and Ego play a massive part in this game, if there were as many women players as men, the men would be left far behind in the winning stakes. Part of the game is getting players to go on tilt in the niciest possible way, it pays off. I know one player (we'll keep him anonymous) who fakes tilt amazingly. One of my counterparts in the U.S.A teaches this - how to fake tilt and get paid off. Youi have to find it amusing. There are no supermen - and you aren't going to meet a guy who would be willing to go through childbirth, men are just not that tough. I see a lot of guys having a love affair with themselves and poker when they should be chasing girls and forming relationships. There are sad people who play this game every night of their life, they haven't got an appreciation of time. They will look back with regret that they did not put a life together for themselves, that is inevitible. The danger of easy money is that it ceases to be real and all kinds of values get distorted. We are about to go through a period that will very much mirror the 1930's the only decent thing about it is that it will make better people with better values. Continue to play well, the only piece of advice I would give to any poker player is never criticise any players mistakes, they are to your advantage and a gift, surely that should be good enough.

To Action Man -  Dear Richard,
Don't you just have to marvel at the synchonicity of it all.  You post something about me on Tuesday and on Thursday we're sitting at the same poker table. I've had a few amazing coincidences lately, they are a bit facinating.

To Byron Kinkaid =  When I wrote The Truth About Food - sent a copy to over a thousand General Practitioners, the feedback gave me enough material to write at least another two books on the subject, but other projects have taken precedence. We are what we are due to the Paleo diet and seeing that it has worked since we lived in caves, I would be the last person to knock it. ~The bottom line is, it's difficult to avoid fast food and the way around it is compromise if we eat 20% whatever and 80% quality fresh food. That's fine.  We haven't got the problem, it's the third world that truly suffers. Our problem is too much and theirs too little. The planet is volatile and food stocks are lower now than ever. Bee extinction is about to cause great problems and we will all be having a reality check sooner than we think. But evolution has fixed it that we survived so far hopefully evolution has a few more tricks up it's sleeve.  All the best Byron.  A little tip for anyone you know who has high blood pressure, get them to drink pure cocoa for a month. They will be shocked at how their blood pressure levels drop.

Nice posts sid... like your calm well written style that elegantly bats aside all the young stars attempts to provoke.

Its a shame that they have to wait to get old to gain wisdom and engage brain before mouth...

Eatrly morning regards to: Sicilian - Soviet Song - Maldini - Tiitaniumbean -
It's 6.55am and I have the site to myself - just had my early morning dip in the sea - only did 45 minutes because if I get lucky could be a long day at the Rendezvous. The update of runners and riders doesn't seem to be up yet - but well done to everyone who made it through - Well done to Albert for makiing it to a second day - be great if this one had his name on it - would cause a stir among some players.
It's going to be a really nice day here in Brighton - hope some of you come down for the side events - the place is worth a visit just to see the urinals on the first floor at the rendezvous, which have been in this state of repair for 6 months. You would think that a company as big as Hurrahs would not expect paying customers to piss in a bucket. But apart from that, the place has a nice atmospherre. The barr is up to a couple of our more colourful characters, one in particular whose spectacular insults ( his every other word motherfucker ) have quietened the game down a little but we all seem to be living with that. A good word for Charley Eaton and her partner ( a Terry Dene Lookalike ) who are moving on, but have done a great job of bringing the card room back to life. Charley's leaving soon and we may end up with a vacume and not much of a card room, I hope not. I only came back to playing regularly, recently when all games became dealer dealt.
