Nooooooooooo but I prefer to watch England bowl
Me too, regardless of the pitch i just feel more comfortable watching England bowl, I always fear a batting collapse and every ball has me on edge where as if theyre bowling you can be more relaxed watching imo.
still feel the same way? I was thinking about this post while watching last night. doubt I've ever felt more relaxed watching england bat

So I reckon if we can get another 30-40, the Aussies would be doing pretty well to score 400, knock off a 250 deficit and set us say 150..a tricky chase on day 5..especially as our guys bowl to plans and keep the scoring rate down, typically
can we ask for the extra 1/2 hour when batting? can't remember. if so we could probs just about win scoring like that
can't help but feel strauss is going to be over cautious and bat til lunch though

I would think he would bat til we are bowled out
I'm assuming 30-40 runs could be more

Why would we want to declare before lunch? The Aussies have to try and win the match, i would be happy for us to bat until tea for a 450+ lead.

because we don't want only 4 sessions to bowl them out. even though they need to win to level it was very clear from the way they batted 1st innings that they'll be happy to get away without a loss

disagree. At 2-1 Bat for as long as you can. Make sure you don't have to bat again. 4 sessions, if the pitch is playing up enough, would be enough to force a win....especially if you can set fields knowing you don't have to worry about runs...which at 400 ahead you would. At 250 ahead you have to have one eye on not being set a target, so slightly more defensive fields

I would be very surprised if they can bat for 120 overs to save the game, 4 sessions would be plenty on a final day pitch.

Not Ashes related, but did anyone see Kallis bat today? The bloke is a machine, yet rarely gets mentioned as an all time great.

Ind/SA has been a wonderful series
Steyn/Morkel are superb
Tendulkar and co
Kallis
England's next task is to beat these two, comfortably the best two sides in the world

Vaughan says Colly has announced his test retirement to the team this morning
If so, right decision IMO. Jump before you are dropped and concentrate on one day team
