Playing in a live tournament last night. Final table. Six handed. Five get paid. First prize is £600. Fith prize is £60. UTG=48K Hijack=42k Cutoff=100k Button=15K SB=15k BB=30K The blind are 1500 / 3000 no ante. The button appears to be happy to try and fold his way into fith spot. The small blind is an experienced, very competent TAG player. It folds to the small blind who shoves all in for 15k I'm on the BB with approx 30k. I have Should i call or fold?

Easy call for me. He should shove about 102% of his range there, so there is a chance your will be good enough, you can muck the other card now.

It's a call but I think it's close. SB should be shoving 100% but you describe him as TAG so he might only be doing it with something half decent. The lack of antes too might tighten his range too.

Can't be that competent if they have 5 bbs They might have been chip leader the hand before and lost a big pot to the now chip leader? But call u hav an ace Agree with this bit. You're well ahead of their range here.

You're well ahead of their range here. Are we really "well ahead"? Not on a windows machine atm so don't have pokerstove but some random online calc says A3s is 57% against 2 random cards. I'm not convinced that in the spot described villain is shoving any two. I'm not saying it's not a call, but I think it's closer than people think. I certainly don't think it's a fistpump call.

Sorry, probably should have written - "well ahead of a lot of their range". As for the easy/insta-ness of it, well I don't think any decision should be made like that - although many seem reluctant to take a second to think a decision over, even if it first appears obvious.

If he's good he shouldn't really be this short unless he just lost a big pot but this is definitely a call because he should be shoving any 2 and if he's good he will be.

yeah this not really too bothered about his range as A3s plays almost as well aipf against someone only shoving top 50% as it does against atc he needs to be very tight for me to be worrying about what he's actually got

I've been doing some pokerstove work around calling ranges as I was clueless. If he pushes 33% of his hands A2s+ is a call as far as chip equity is concerned.
