In the Centre
The National Portrait Gallery for art
The British Museum for history

Just 'off centre'
The Tate for art
The Science Museum and it's neighbours for history
The Imperial War Museum for big guns

Or shopping in Oxford Street
Or Vinopolis for alcohol and the Nando's next door

Would be my summary of best available options for a London day trip

lol, im 21 from Nucarstle (i'm getting the hang of this now) been to London 5-10 times for Newcastle Away matches/Wembley (sigh) but never actually spent time there sightseeing etc. Probably the same with most of my friends who are my age/went to uni. Perfect opportunity to take advantage of it.

This carnaby street just after hamleys, on the east side of regent street.

covent garden is nice, chinatown etc are all interesting.

You could just get the getaway on pc, excellent game with London fully recreated for quite a few square miles. Great game!
