You were break even for half of that. That's quite incredible for us mainly live players.

Also, you effectively made $1 a hand over the second half. Not a bad rate.

From a few years ago but a great statistical analysis of 6m cash games.  A few moments of light reading for someone I'm sure.

his play is ok?

Looks ok to me, he is playing his Kings, played it OK pre & binked bottom set, mistakenly thinking that was good, then he got lucky.

This is Omaha, it happens much much more than in NLH.

his play is ok?

I think it must be.  Where do you think he went wrong?  You can't always have aces on the flop, even though it looks the most likely holding.  In big multi way pots, you could be playing double suited connectors the same way.  I just think  he gets a bit unlicky with all the action, and can't really fold at any stage.

I think you miscount the outs, TT98 has 8 to the main pot.

One thing you can't really do with PLO is get worked up over beats, you are going to get outdrawn more often than in Hold Em and it will drive you mad if you let it.

But that is the whole point - you are NOT him, & we all play the game differently.

He's not done much wrong, imo, & so what if he has, what has that got to do with anything?

In Omaha, Aces win FAR less often than in NLH.

You were (roughly) 70-30 pre-flop. So he wins three times in every 10.

You just got unlucky, but if you want to play Omaha, this is perfectly standard, imo.

We have to look at the probable outcome over 10,000 hands, not one. Get it in good often enough, & you'll be a winner, but there'll be beats along the road.

Think I probably flat too, but it is a while since I played PLO cash, and the game was pretty aggro then.  So maybe his 3 bet is standard now? I know the likes of Ben Grundy and Dave Shallow always had big 3 bet ranges.

It's your thread Patrick, litter it all you like, but I am really struggling to understand your mindset here.

"....i wont litter the thread i promise, but his play here?....

Why are we obsessed with villain's play?

They'll do whatever they want. We just have to find ways to play better, as near optimal as possible.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something here.

I'm loving learning the game, but I concentrate on my play, not others.

im trying to learn and when people do things i dont understand i want to know why so that i can either a- exploit them, or b- immitate them.

those who just focus on themselves will generally not succeed, in poker at least. Although there is a close line, im focusing on his play but its to benefit my own play rather than to call him a muppet or a hero.

in holdem i spend maybe 15 hours a week looking at other players i play against and asking why. Thankfully ive done this for 5 years and know myself rather than having to ask others. But for PLO im lost so have to ask others for help.

Ill probably start playing 5 hours a week of plo and looking at the other guys for more than that.
