Friends I know who play poker treat it very much like a job. They are in the "lab" every day, run simulations, seek advice of
best places to store their money and treat it professionally.
I'll just stop here, as I have a lot of pepsi to clean off my screen and keyboard. I can't begin to tell you how many arrogant professional poker players I have talked to in my time. They can spend hundreds of hours in the lab fine tuning micro-aspects of the game, then they bowl up in LV and pay 5-10% on their fx. This is
after
ripping $20K straight out of Stars $ cashier straight to their Euro bank, without bothering to convert it to Euro within stars first. 70% of the time in those conversations I actually just withdraw from the conversation.... "carry on son." 30% of the time, a very very very ill looking poker player trudges off to calculate how many thousands they pissed away over the years by being a financial donk.
None of that is aimed at answering the "what if" of course, just pointing out that even amongst the ranks of professional players making a reasonable crust and perhaps destined for a decent lifetime expectation of the game, there are an awful lot of IRL failures contained within.

Great post and so so true. You could have easily added a million other leaks these types all have as well whilst you were at it. The vast majority of poker pros are totally clueless when it comes to real world business and controlling their exs

Yea and what's the going rate for those shitty massages at the table? Any value-seeking pro could get head to toe body massage+full sex for less if they shopped around a bit.

They are the most comical lol donk off by the aspiring pros! Those girls must literally go home every night from a festival pissing themselves laughing even before they meet the one super lol vip sugar daddy in their hotel after for 'extras'!

Also pretty offensive to masseuses to suggest they are also whores.

You think none of them are escorts on the side? Come on Alex surely even you are not that naive! Sugar babies/escorts blah blah whatever the 2016 name is. I am not saying most of them are but i know for a fact one of the regular UK tour massage girls is from what she offered me a couple of years ago! Obviously i politely turned down her offer. Didn't the NOTW guy back in the day say 'made my excuses and left'! I would say it is more offensive to be offered what she offered me than what i have stated.

Being such a rich handsome young engaged to a poker dealer posh boy i doubt these girls think you need their services so you are highly unlikely to ever see the reality.

Been drinking with a few and been to a lunch with one of my friends and two masseuses from the EPT scene. Knowing his past, he certainly couldn't have paid $250 or w,e for the night. Could also argue its cheaper to get one at the table whilst your making that sweet delicious ev compared to stepping away from your printing machine for an hour. Obviously its a very expensive deal, and if you were a professional live player then it would be absurd. However, I don't think getting a 20 minute backrub for 20 euros can ever be such a bad deal when your playing a 5k event. Live stops are somewhat recreational for even the professional players, certainly myself. I'd be a touch surprised to see Alex getting a massage but I don't think Pads having a quick 30 mins could be considered some sort of absurd life leak unless he was getting one every day for hours. I pay £4 extra for the aloe vera gel when I get a massage, rip off yes, value no, worth it for the once a month massage I get, absolutely.

bahahaha I remember yrs ago I was talking to a young pro who was explaining to me the EV calcs of massages at the table.
Buddy, don't work out the EV of massages, just don't do that, please. Can you imagine the mayhem in Tesco's if everyone is stood around trying to figure the EV of Carte Dor vs Tesco Value ice cream.

I mean obviously Carte Dor is clearly GTO over Tesco Value, or get yourself to Waitrose/M&S if you really wanna play optimal.
But you get my drift

BTW- I've watched £1 per minute girls massaging poker players with their elbows while texting their friends or updating facebook.
