I'll say it quietly because I don't want to get shouted at...
Wouldn't it be nice to have some added money to compensate for being on tv.
Just a thought.
Lol.
It ain't gonna happen Keith.
In fact, they might not even allow the wearing of patches......
I'm not talking about alot of cash.
Just a wee bit to compensate the players for the annoyance of the cameras.
£2000?
Really don't know how players ever let it get to the point where a request for added money receives a "LOL" as an answer.
Can you think of another sport/game where the players shown on tv get zero for appearing?
I imagine there are numerous lesser sports which are grateful for any TV coverage (to raise profile, & "be on telly") & do it for free, but I doubt many are inconvenienced by it as much as poker is.
You must nearly throw up in the WSOP ME when every "all-in & call" results in a 2 minute delay whilst they await the arrival of the ESPN floor crew, & then, while the 2 poor sods await their fate, they have to endure a further 45 second delay between flop & turn, & turn & river. (And 95% of those hands never get past the Edit Suite) That TV deal is absolutely HUGE, & effectively bankrolls the WSOP, but the players get diddly-squat - but here's the thing - nobody complains, they are all happy to accept it. Go figure.
Hey Tikay, don't know how much you saw of the Day 1's at the EPT in London, but for me it was the first time EVER in an EPT that I can imagine where I felt like I was in the Rio. They were filming so many all-in showdowns taking several minutes sometimes to get over to each table because there was so little room. It was really inconvenient for the players (great for the press though as we knew where a showdown was going on).
I certainly did, I was there for both Day Ones, & scores of players were moaning & groaning about it. Even the more erudite, such as Tom Rutter, said it was OTT, & way too much. Play was intermittently delayed due to TV-Table issues. But it's never going to change.
Note I was there to get......TV Inteviews.
And the Sponsors were queuing up to give us their badged players, scores of them, one after the other, all wearing their badges. We even got Ivey, which was, of course, at Tilt's request.
What I heard was that the Stars suits were asking, "Why aren't our Pros on the final table? We are paying them after all?" So they wanted feature coverage of Stars players on the Day 1's, then they'd cover the final with most likely none of said pros making it there. Obviously a Stars invitational tournament with their pros makes much more sense than this.
But I've heard it might all change in time for Barcelona.

When I went deep in the WSOP main event I was involved in huge allin hand on Day 5 with Jeff Kimber.
We must have waited for 5 minutes for the tv cameras to come over and film the hand.
The wait was so painful, like being in the dock and waiting to hear the verdict.
I have been on tv tables a few times and it is a royal pain in the arse.
ffs i'd forgotten about this, probably stray across it on ESPN Classic one day and insta-tilt...didn't u have aces and I had an ace with a worse kicker?! For what it's worth I think your point is very vaild keith but i don't see a way of forcing anything to change, apart from not playing in these pay us to make a tv programme channel 5 crapshoots which i've never played in. At least dear old ladbvrokes used to add a big wedge to the poker million, so as far as I was concerned that was game to do whatever with their structure. I guess u would be within your rights to refuse to play on the tv table and not inconvenience yourself with the tv cameras, refuse to show your hand etc etc but it will probably come over like youre the bad guy.
Full Tilt, probably amongst others, pay their pros a set fee to get on TV, $5k I think, which leads to rdic situations like the lmillion dollar cash game where players sit with 10k, are getting 5k to be there and give their personal overlay a spin. It also leads to fked up situations where their pros turn up to things like poker lounge knowing at least they get 5k of the buy in for being on tv, then find out tehy're not selected as one of the three permitted to wear the same badge and they therefore forfeit their 5k and are left to pay for themselves.

No, geezer raised utg, you 3bet utg+1 with AQ and I shoved utg+2 with KK.
We are left standing there waiting for the board to be dealt while the cameras finished up filming two other allins. I swear it took nearly 10 minutes.
Really the whole sponsorship system in poker is fcked up imo.
Take away Ivey, Dwan and maybe a couple of others and the sponsored pros add very little to their sites.
The sites would be far better off using the millions they waste on sponsorship adding value to tournaments or running a series of events where the top prize is to become a sponsored pro.

Can we get personalised ones with little country flags on like the pokerstars ones!
Not unless you want to spend a lot of money compared to the normal ones
How much is a lot of money. If you get them sewn into a short they can be reused. I need some anyway for this and APAT events if there are any going, more than happy to pay/donate for them.

No idea yet
the unit price for a single non specilalised one is north of £2, so I'd guess a £5 plus p and p plus time spent working out a design
Work out what you want, send it to me and I'll see if I can order it

Hmm.......maybe something along those lines might be do-able. Needs to be a Site that thinks a bit outside the box, though.
