Interesting hand for Matt Russell

Paul Garnham raises to 3,600 from a 20,000 stack

Matt makes it 11,500 next to act from a 30,000 stack

Michael Maruna pushes for 26,000 next to act again

Garnham makes an agonised pass

I feel sure, watching, that Russell has to call 15,000 more into a pot of over 40,000 getting nearly 3-1. Problem being it's a virtual all in for him too

He goes to fold, sighs, pulls his cards back, takes his headphones out, rubs his eyes, smiles and eventually folds

Maruna shows Q-Q

Russell says "I had tens"

He lives to fight another day

there is a back story to this, as Matt explained to me when he came over at the end of play

I hope he doesn't mind me telling you it. If he does, tough, lol

"Well Tighty you came over to watch the table. Paul raised and I thought I would 3 bet with 2-3 off, thinking Paul would pass a lot of hands and then show you 2-3 when he passed, just for a laugh and for an update story. Then the very tight guy shoved. Paul passes and I'm stuck. I look bad if I pass but I've got 2-3 ffs.

Eventually I pass and tell the guy when he shows Queens that I passed tens to him. This came a bit unstuck when Paul Garnham tells me he passed tens and a guy round the back said he passed tens to a bet, 3 bet and 4 bet shove.

Oops"

Information about the Day two field

The top ten in chips

Alli Mallu   13   8   226400

Very loose and aggressive tournament veteran. Current leader in the 2010 GUKPT Leaderboard after a swathe of side event wins this year at GUKPTs. Famously tough to play, and famously unconventional. Box office for live updates!

Matthew Eiler-gadsden   13   1   198400

From Swansea and sponsored into this by Roberto Romanello's One Way Poker

Julian Lefevre   22   2   198200

From Bicester in Oxfordshire. Finalist in this event in Jan 2009, one of two cashes in it. A regular on the Southern festival circuit

Thomas Mccready   14   6   168100

RED-DOG of this manor. From Leicestershire, and finalist in the DTD Deepstack last month. Has the hopes of 12,000 blonde members behind him, and the hopes of 12 valets here too, as if he stays in a while he can be guaranteed to order 5 meals while here, tipping every time.

Jamie Kay   15   3   139300

"JK" on blonde. Appalling taste in hoodies. From an initial view yesterday looks to be a talented player. Only two cashes at DTD, in a £150 and a £40. Well placed to score better today.

James Green   12   4   128900

Third in a GCGBT at Nottingham two years ago, and runner up in a GUKPT side at Blackpool last year.

Rob Collins   13   6   122900

Unknown to me I am afraid. Anyone help?

Stewart Brodie   22   3   121200

Small stakes player, with two results in Virgin festivals and a minor cash in a UKIPT to his name

Khaneshkan Sriravindrah   13   7   114500

Purely selfishly, if he goes deep I am going to have to abbreviate his name. So, what do I know of Khan? Nothing. Sorry

John Exley   22   1   113600

Veteran from Blackpool, finalist in two GUKPTs, winner of the DTD £150 in March and many UK festival final tables. A survivor on the poker scene, creditable given his close friendship with Barry Neville.

Other blondes/notables left in the field

William Davies   15   1   95700

"Bingo Bill" from Cambridge. A Biker, and another who is Box Office for live updaters. Fearless, unconventional, hates passing.

Matthew Lewis   11   9   92200

"cutefish", with a game far preferable to his cardigans

Akhil Avasthy   12   9   71100

New blonde "Big Poppa"

Giuseppe Fontana   14   3   68300

"Pep" from Northampton. Regular cash and tournamnet player at Luton. Another with a good game, and well overdue a big result

Jake Cody   22   6   65700

EPT Winner, WPT Winner. Going for the finest achievement of his career today.

Simon Deadman   14   9   64100

I say it every month. Due to win one of these. Another fearless, and I think he is far looser than George2Loose does

Jason Herbert   25   3   60300

Scunthorpe's finest, regular and serial winner/casher at DTD with expensive taste in hoodies

Richard Blacklock   14   2   52000

Southend estate Aent. Don't let that put you off though "Eso Kral" on blonde is a great guy.

Simon Mitchell   22   7   49400

"SiMitchell" on blonde, chip leader for a while yesterday. From style, would say he is a regular online MTT player

Paul Gardener   14   1   45500

"Swampy" from Teesside. Another successful UK circuit regular, always there or thereabouts

Dwayne Quinn   13   3   44800

Part of the KC club from Swindon. Always goes deep in these, without exception

Adrian Pound   22   4   41600

Another Swindon player. A rock. Rockier than Mount Rushmore

David Maudlin   15   9   41200

Circuit regular from Middlesborough

Saifon Lambe   12   1   37200

Sole remaining lady on the field, a regular around the Southern provinical casinos with her husband Adrian

Desmond Jonas   15   2   32800

Walsall's finest, and finest set of teeth too.  Far tighter than his speechplay would have you assume, catches many an opponent out

Matt Russell   11   4   25700

By repute, his head looks like a Tit

Tim Blake   22   5   20400

T8MML is a regular around European festival events. Great guy, consistent player. Not sure about the sunglasses inside though Tim
