Hi all,

Am going to Australia next week and will be taking in the Aussie Millions festival of pokers while I'm there. I'll be playing a bunch of sides, a smidgen of sats, there's a chance of a Main Event in there somewhere and even a slight possibility of some games where I get more than 2 cards, so this could get complicated. However I've got google docs excel and a bit of time on my hands so let's go:

The Sides

I am looking at playing the following side events:

Thu 13 Jan   $1100 NLH
Sat 15 Jan   $1100 NLH (re-repechage)
Sun 16 Jan   $550 NLH shootout (PokerPro tables)
Tue 18 Jan   $1100 NLH shootout
Thu 20 Jan   $110 NLH 6max
Tue 25 Jan
Wed 26 Jan - 4x $550 NLH
Thu 27 Jan
Fri 28 Jan
Sat 29 Jan $1650 NLH with bounties

Possibly I'm over-generalising but, from my experience at the millions last year, poker in Australia is about 2 or 3 years behind the standard of poker in similar sized tourns in the UK. The standard of play will probably be on a similar level to that in the $1500 WSOP events or the £300 DTD deepstack, but the structures here will be much better than in Vegas. Due to the above, I will definitely be playing at least these events. I am selling 30% in these events as a package at 1.25 markup. Any events I am unable to play due to circumstances outside my control or due to being still in a prior tournament shares will be refunded in full and, just to make sure I don't flake out, any events I miss due to laziness/forgetfulness I will refund shares at 1.5.

Total buyins: AU$8800
10% = AU$1100 = US$1120 (roughly)
5% = US$560
1% = US$112

Main Event Sats

The casino run daily AU$1060+90 satellites to the Main Event. There will be 12 of these but I have no idea how many I'm gonna be able to play so rather than sell for them all I think a better system would be to get a list of people who are interested in staking at this level, take payment for 1 tourn up front and then get payment for the next if I don't win my 1st. Last year I played 3 or 4, I hope to play at least that many again this year. I am looking to sell 40% in these at a markup of 1.1 if you want winnings paid in cash, or markup of 1.2 if you want your share to carry forward to the Main Event should I win a seat.

If you want your share to carry forward to the main:
10% = AU$138 = US$140 per tourn
5% = US$70 p.t.
2.5% = US$35 p.t.

If you want to be paid your share as a % of $10,600 cash then:
10% = AU$126.5 = US$129 per tourn
5% = US$64.50 p.t.
2.5% = US$32.25 p.t.

Specials

Sun 23 Jan $550   NLH teams event: This tourn is on a Sunday so not entirely sure we'll play it. However despite a pretty bad structure it should be great banter and last year the standard was genuinely awful by all accounts. My team-mate will be Rupert if we do play, make of that what you will, personally I think that'll make us just about the nut team in the comp, apart from the Hachem brothers of course. I'd be up for selling 20% at 1.2 if anyone here fancies the sweat.

Fri 21 Jan $1k rebuy (1k+150): So expensive, but such sick, sick value, the standard is laughable in the rebuy stages and the money is so huge up top. This is an old fashioned rebuy, with a starting stack that you can easily lose in one hand in the first 2 levels, so it is a little out of my price range. However, if I could sell 50% I would love to play it as a 1r1a.

So, I will be selling 50% at 1.3 on the first buyin with no markup on the rebuys, so if I do end up spending $3k the effective markup is 1.11. If the table is really amazing and I run bad I will stretch to spending 5 bullets, in which case the effective markup will be 1.07. If I run good early on and only do the addon, the eff. markup is 1.16, but we'll probably have loads of chips so I'll be worth it Wink

10% = between AU$250 - 550

Mon 17 Jan $1100 PLO: I have no real record of success at PLO, but I have played a few hands of cash and am 1 for 3 in live PLO comps, having chopped the Luton £330 PLO with Karl last year. I would also imagine that the standard of PLO will be as bad or worse than the standard of holdem down under, so I think I should be good value. I might also read a PLO book on the plane or something. Selling 50% at 1.0 for this.

Wed 19 Jan $1100 8-game: As above, except that I have never even cashed in an 8-game tournament. However I do know the rules and rough starting hand selection for all the games, which is likely more expertees than most of the field will possess. I also think that my understanding of stack dynamics will be better than the field. Could read an 8-game book on the plane I guess. 50% available at 1.0 for this as well.

And finally...

If things don't go too badly out there I might buy in to the Main Event. If I play it I will probably sell around 50% at 1.2. Let me know if you would like to be on an interest list for these shares should they come available.

10% = AU$1270 = US$1300
5% = US$650
1% = US$130

.
.
.

Hope that smorgasbord of Australian action is decipherable to potential investors. I've tried some new stuff, the anti-laziness provision, the sliding scale markup in the rebuy, the two-tier prices in the sats, but basically there's sides, sats, the main and then some random punts but I've tried to price them all so that they provide similar good value for the backer. Let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,

Keys

Booked. With the sats, do you want paying in cash or would you wanna roll it over to the main?
