Vinnie, just caught up with your diary (haven't read the others yet) and so sorry to hear about your mum.
Be brave for now, and then when you're ready focus on achieving your goals this year - for her.
That's the plan McBink. Thank you.
How was Vegas? Any results?
Enjoyable thanks, but to be honest 12 days was a bit too much and I felt ready to come home after a week.
Played several Venetian deepstacks, final tabled 2 and built a big stack in another before donking it off in one hand.
One cash ($3,264 for 6th of 123 in a $350 event, having turned down $5k for a 12 way chop) and one near miss (10th of 75 in a $1k event with 9 paid, where 9th got $2,750).

the longest I've ever stayed in vegas was a week, and I really don't think I could have taken anymore. I love the place, but it starts sending me a bit dolally after about 5 days.

I secretly knew most of that, but thought I would let you get a little brag in
Well done.

Before that though, obviously there will be my Mum's funeral.
Last time I posted on it, I said that it all seemed to be going well and my sister had assumed driving duties and my Dad was relatively happy with how it was going too. Well, that sort of all changed on Wednesday, about 20 minutes after I posted, he phoned me, to see if I could help him out. I'd be glad to I said. And agreed to go and meet him at my sisters. It seemed that it was all about to go wrong...

I got to my sisters and they arrived 10 minutes later or so, my dad was looking a bit stressed. First up he wanted to go and get a suit. Fine, no prob. Where do you want to go? M&S prob best I said. No, Burtons he insisted, ok, prob not very good but we'll go. It wasn't very good, and neither was Top Man & Next, so off we went to M&S. I let him wander ahead as I didn't really know what he was after, the first five suits he looked at were all grey, but he didn't like the cut of the jacket, so I found him a grey suit with a traditional cut and showed it to him. Nah, I don't like grey he said.
Ok, no prob. 10 mins later we had found him a suit, he tried it on, It fitted perfectly and off we went. He seemed a lot more relaxed already. He hadn't been eating much in the last few days, and if there is one thing I'm good at, it's eating, and getting other people to eat as well
So we headed off to McDonalds for lunch, and he ate the lot.
The plan for the rest of the day was that my sister would now be off getting the death certificate, and we would be going to the funeral directors to sort out the paperwork and finalise the date etc. My dad was set on having the funeral on Monday. Which, as far as my limited experience in organising funerals go, I didn't think would be a problem.
Finished lunch, and we set off back to my sisters to pick up the death certificate, so we could then head onto the funeral directors.
Got to the funeral directors just in time for our 3pm appt. Was met by a large woman, who looked very shiny, I did wonder if she had been at the embalming gear to be honest, but was prob just some sort of make-up. She hadn't been very helpful on the phone earlier in the day, but her colleague that we spoke to on Monday was very helpful, so we assumed she may have been having a bad five minutes. We were wrong ;(

For me, If you work at a funeral directors, then I think you should show some sort of compassion. I understand that they have a job to do, and that's fine, but ffs, We are not trying to buy a sofa, we are trying to organise a funeral!!
We done the formaities, form filling etc, then she asked what date the funeral would be. Monday the 14th please. Of February? err yes, Oh, we can't do that, too busy, will be later than that.
Right, well when we spoke to your colleague on Monday, we mentioned the date and she never said it would be a problem.
Well it will be, there is no way we will be able to do it.
When can you do?
I'll have to make a phone call. (followed by a big sigh)
She came back 2 mins later. The best we can do is March 2.
Eh?
March 2, the 2nd of March!
Is that right?
Yes, March 2.
Nothing sooner?
Nope, March 2. Oh, and by the way, where is your wife Mr Calenti?
Pardon?
Where is your wife? Enfield or Potters Bar?
Well, she was taken to Enfield, then the coroner took her, then you were bringing her back here yesterday, to Potters Bar.
Were we?
Yes.
Oh, I don't think we have picked her up yet, I need to make a phone call. Followed by another long sigh.

Anyway, we are not using that Funeral Directors anymore funnily enough, I was really surprised. They are from a big chain so thought they would be quite good.
On wednesday, the cemetry told us that they also couldn't do Monday, so we moved everything to Tuesday. Then the priest forgot he wasn't available Tuesday & Wednesday.
Arghh!!!!
My dad was getting concerned now. Several of his family had booked flights from Malta, and it looked like it wasn't gonna get done next week at all. We went to see the priest, and he wasn't very helpful either to be honest. He goes to school on a tuesday and wednesday & it can't be changed. But he couldn't really recommend another priest.
Eventually, after a bit of messing about, we managed to get everything sorted. And all the plans have now been finalised. All the family have been advised, and their travel arrangements have been made. Hope it all goes well.
