I made, the strangest, most uncomfortable purchase I have ever done today. Well, I was there doing the talking, my dad, the spending.
He bought me a car. Not a new one, but one that will last me a few years hopefully. My mum had a car through Motability, she has done for about 15 years. Obviously, with her being on holiday last year, then in hospital for a lot of the latter part of the year and early part of this year, I had more or less full use of it. There was the odd day when I would very kindly let her borrow it, no more than a day at a time mind, otherwise she might have wanted to drive it more
Well, that now has to go back It's a shame, she loved that car, so did my dad. I remember going to help her choose it with Holly, and my dad made her order the sports alloys. To be fair they were nice, but, wtf does a 70 year old want sports alloys for?
Will be sad to see it go. For lots of reasons.

Anyway, we are not using that Funeral Directors anymore funnily enough, I was really surprised. They are from a big chain so thought they would be quite good.
On wednesday, the cemetry told us that they also couldn't do Monday, so we moved everything to Tuesday. Then the priest forgot he wasn't available Tuesday & Wednesday.
Arghh!!!!
My dad was getting concerned now. Several of his family had booked flights from Malta, and it looked like it wasn't gonna get done next week at all. We went to see the priest, and he wasn't very helpful either to be honest. He goes to school on a tuesday and wednesday & it can't be changed. But he couldn't really recommend another priest.
Eventually, after a bit of messing about, we managed to get everything sorted. And all the plans have now been finalised. All the family have been advised, and their travel arrangements have been made. Hope it all goes well.
Hope it goes ok mate (as well as it can anyway)
So, on Tuesday yeah?
Have u written your [mum's] eulogy yet?

Haven't done much today, yet I feel absolutely drained for some reason. Can't think why.
Took my dad to Tesco's, managed to get him to eat a roll at the cafe next to the the dry cleaners I had just put my trousers into. He wasn't hungry, but he still managed to eat it before me. Just needs reminding & a bit of persuassion and he is fine.
Dropped him back and I went home, and didn't move from the sofa other than to go to the door to collect the pizza I had ordered. Ate half of it and Kirsty only managed half of hers so that's dinner sorted for tomorrow
Family start arriving tomorrow. My mum's cousin is arriving in the afternoon from Glasgow. They will be staying with my dad. I will be staying with her and her husband next week. Will be good to be there to welcome them when they arrive.
My dad's friend is also coming over from Malta. His sister died on friday from breast cancer, she was buried today and he is flying over to be with my dad tomorrow morning. A real friend imo. Have to get up at 7.15 tomorrow to pick him up from the airport. Gonna be a long day.

My fiancees father died suddenly 4 months ago
N she mostly arranged everything...
Under no circumstances was she using the co-op for arrangements...we used a private firm,a family firm..
It was my first experience too of helping and organising a funeral...
It was hard for everyone m8
But I can't praise the funeral director highly enough, very personal before, during and after..v understanding and really took the stress out of concerns...hiccups were dealt with fast and proffesionally...
Hope urself, dad and family are bearing up
