Get a Skoda. It would just be the nuts for everyone but you. The endless banter and piss taking would be incredible. Buy a second hand green one, that would be epic. It would be like the young kid in The Inbetweeners driving his first car. Everyone, and I mean everyone would walk out of the club to see it in the car park. Facebook and Blonde would have a surge of hits as people uploaded pictures and made comments.
Do it for the people. You are above all this image stuff. You would be doing it because it would be sensible and it would give a lot of pleasure to a lot of people.

In what may be an attempt to win the money to pay his car repair bills, the thread owner has had a bet which matures today. He has invested a sliver of the Goulder fortune on Finn to be "Top England Bowler" in today's India v England ODI, which is being held in a very cold Mohali, India, not a million miles from Tibet. India won the toss & inserted England, who are going along nicely. England will be bowling to India later this morning, from about 10am at a guess. You can watch the game on Sky Sports, or follow the score in real time on this excellent site..... http://www.espncricinfo.com/india-v-england-2012/engine/current/match/565815.htmlFunk for Alex, he needs the money. Alternatively, if you do not approve of his continuing slide into degeneracy & the dark side, anti-rail him.

financing/leasing surely nut worst option given i can pay cash upfront ([ ] brag when its a golf)
Leasing is normally the worst option but you need to run the figures. Its nothing to do with tax or paying small amounts its simply working out the cost over the three years. Buying is normally best but there are a few cars where leasing is cheaper and you can probably do more with your lump. ;-) It all depends on the discount from list price the leasing company can get that you wouldnt get if you paid cash and the cars residual value after the 3 years, both these vary car to car.
