Loathsome as it is, its tv poker with 'characters'. Toby may not be invited back cause its better tv if he reacts. Shoulda just been  a 'character' too and told him to fk off. Wouldnt get shown and the berating would stop.

most decent humans would rather watch Toby than Tony imo

get this fucking twat on his bike.

what sort of stupidity is this.

most humans aren't decent, and most people would rather have controversy/something interesting than to just watch someone young who can play really well.

obv tony g overstepped the mark and should get a penalty or at least a slap. it's up to the tv producers though.

Yeh TV producers are always going to prefer drama>good poker. You can watch good poker on training sites!

Having said that, I always thought I was in the big minority by not enjoying watching Tony play. He does come across as a bully and a massive douche-bag. It might be entertaining to some, but I always wonder if it's the right image to set for poker for the viewing public...hard to tell. If I was new to the game and casually watching I think I'd probably be quite intimidated about going and playing a game at my local casino if I was to come across characters like him at my table berating me.

Regardless at the end of the day, for the TV producers it's perfect as it creates drama, get's people talking about the show (as we are now), so they're always going to favor this over silent young guys tanking and levelling each other which the casual viewing audience will find it harder to relate to.

That's also probably why High Stakes Poker is widely viewed as the best TV poker - it has both the drama (Helmuth blowing up) along with some amazing plays with big pots (Durr levelling people etc.)

I get your point, in the end I wasn't talking about how good Toby is or how decent he plays, I was talking about the fact that he isn't a ***** (or, at least doesn't look like it on the telly box ^^).

There is absolutely place for 'characters' and blowups and all of that, in fact, when Tony G doesn't overstep the mark there's probably a place for him, but the very second he stepped out of line they should have paused filming and the game, ejected Tony and carried on. That's drama, as well.

Am i watching this right?. All the players decide to straddle.

Comes around to Toby Lewis for the straddle and he gives it the "woops!" missed it and Tong G spotted it.
causing the outburst.

I know the vast % will stick up for the victim but if he did go back on an agreement then who is the victim?

Unless I'm seeing this different?

Regards

M

P.s Good luck to you guys in Sunny Spain.

Notice how tony h picks on the people who aren't inclined to go back at him and to tell him to stfu? Like that famous Russian guy, Andrew robl and now Toby. No one minds light hearted banter, and in some ways, subtle needling can be part of the game but this is outright bullying and there's no place on the game for it

Tony G playing the pantomime villain as always. I think he overstepped the mark. TV guys need to decide whether shows like this are about poker or go down the track of WWF wrestling etc. Toby strikes me as a top bloke,Tony G an idiot. Shame no one else suggested he was making a fool of himself. Everyone on the table is in the game and have a right to comment but were probably intimidated by the so called 'star'. However even in local cash games when someone is acting totally out of order my experience is everyone looks down at their own chip stacks and 'don't want to get involved'. However in the long run what goes round comes round. Thought Toby handled himself with grace and class.
    Good luck Alex in Marbella.

Wow good for Toby, glad he said something like that back. The first clip makes it out like he just said nothing and took it.

Deadman was commentating at this moment and apparently Toby actually gets stacked in this hand (not shown on the above clip) which is pretty gross timing...really hope Tony had some class at least and didnt rub him down or anything.

Just Mitch and Keith left in now.

I ran into 2 super cold decks, on where I bet bet, check/raised river, only to get shoved on so I had to fold...pretty sure he had a straight flush actually or maybe KJ.

Then AT into 99 on AT9ddx to cripple me.

Nothing else I could've done really. Was encouraging signs though, and 1b is supposed to be even softer tomorrow so looking forward to trying again Smiley
