Miss Champion will not be present this time, she will be replaced by Miss Anna Fowler, & Richard Orford.

If you so desire, I can present you with the Winners trophy.

24th July 2010

Today was fun. I woke up at 5pm had breakfast, hopped on my bike and rode to DTD to start my shift at 745. They were short of dealers so my plans to do a short shift and head to alea to play the comp were scuppered. I insta go-listed and was sent to deal the £15 (bowl) freezeout marv. My heroes Mitch Johnson and Simon Deadman were playing the £50er and were on the same table, I really wanted to deal on that table to watch them play and try and make friends with them. So demoralising dealing to these chumps in the £15er when I KNOW I could destroy them at no limit holdem. In one hand a guy made a terrible play and I KNEW his exact hole cards but obviously couldn't say anything during the hand. But I did know.

I didn't get a break until around 10pm in which I sat in the staff room and chatted to some of the dealers I didn't know so well. They kept taking the piss out of my accent and calling me posh. They just don't understand. It's pretty difficult to relate sometimes. I'm not posh, I just speak properly, you know?

On returning from my break, I noticed Mitch Johnson had been knocked out the tournament (I think he mincashed) and was playing in a £1/2 game with Neil Giblin, Armani hat, Tom McCready, Alan Stearn, Greek Jack and Andrew Hulme. What a fun lineup. I reeeeeally wanted to be given the chance to deal that table. I pleaded with Danny to let me. He's a sucker for my accent so he let me.

When I sat down I said Hi to Mitch and he said Hi back. I was kinda nervous to be honest! I saw some sick hands. So many great players on that table. Andrew Hulme is another great player. Very funny too, another one to make friends with at some point I think. It was great dealing that game I felt I was learning so much (especially since whenever I really want to know what someone has I don't muck their cards properly then sneak a look after the hand Cool). I was regretting going on the go-list but I got taken off the game at about 1130pm. I said Bye to Mitch and he said Bye back.

I rushed out of the building but managed to notice that Simon Deadman had made the final table again. He's so good. I rode as fast as I could to Alea to play some cash game. On my way I was thinking about how I was going to emulate Mitch, Simon and Andrew in the game and try and make some of the plays they were making. I decided to take a shot and sit with a bit more than I usually sit. I took out £80 from my tips envelope and bought into the game. Sean Belton and Tim Chung were there but another than that it was a soft table.

I played perfect poker all night, but it wasn't enough. Some idiot called me with A3 on A9957 when everyone at the table knew I must have the 9 and I knew that they knew that so I thought it was a good spot to bluff but it obviously didn't get through this genius.

I didn't really have anymore money on me so headed off to gala to try and deal in the game over there and get some tips. I had to wait a long time because Spencer, Audi and Ryan Moon were all ahead of me on the list but eventually I got a spot dealing at 7am and made £12 in an hour and then got taken off. I was pretty tired after that so just went home and went to sleep. Same again tomorrow...

3 years later

24th July 2013

Went to gala to play 0.50/1. Andrew Hulme and Mitch Johnson were in the game playing some brilliant poker. It was really great to watch. We played until 7am and then the game broke and we went into the back room to play chinese. Well, they played chinese with Fred 3 handed, I just dealt for tips.

I made £6 pretty quickly but then it slowed as the more generous players went on downswings and Fred heatered it for a while. I made another £6 but then it was 930 and we had to call it a day.

We pooled my tips together for a group roulette spin so put the £12 on 78 split. It came in 0. Same again tomorrow.

Good to know that you've come so far in the last three years and have made real progress in your life Cheesy

Must admit though that I think you're dealing abilities have deteriorated in the last 3 years as quite a few mistakes were made last night. Might be worth going on some sort of refresher course?

Nobody, they understand randomness.

Tikay as soon as I'm grown up enough to be allowed on Sky Poker Television can you please tell Miss Anna Fowler how incredibly rich, good looking and well endowed I am (feel free to lie as much as you can) I know it's a long shot we could start sewing the seeds early Cheesy

See you in 14 years.

July is coming to an end and it's been a really fun month but I think results haven't been too good overall, and I think it's close to a losing month actually. But this does include bricking world series events and the main event shot, so I'm happy with my post Vegas recovery and grinding it back in 50/1 games has been pretty satisfying. It was annoying to play 50/1 for perhaps 10 sessions and do really well only to lose half of it in an hour in the only big cash game that has ran in that time. This was yesterday, I grinded the SPT and busted in 60th or something, and then snap did £1.2k playing 1/2 in a great game.

I think I've come in the top 20% of the field in last 8 live tournaments I've played and cashed none of them! Lots of leg work and no rewards annoyingly.

I think the next couple of months is going to be interesting. I can see my "career" maybe taking a new direction if the situation in Nottingham doesn't change. What's exciting is that "change" could be in one of several directions I have in mind. We'll see how it goes.

A few things that happened this week:

PJ's family's dog has come to stay for a week.

I can accept "Not familiar with dogs',  'Scared of dogs' or 'Don't understand dogs', but no one that I have any respect for 'Hates dogs'.

It makes no sense. Dogs really are man's best friend. Their soul aim in life is to please us. please.

Retract this ridiculous statement immediately.

Shocked, Sharnford.

OK I retract it. Hate is a strong word.

Will you "accept" I don't like dogs?
