Bink the odd £1k event for a guaranteed income, then the swings won't seem so big.

Most of the 1/2 regs sit with £400 or £500, with some of the bigger players usually sitting to cover the table. When you look at it from this angle, a £2k "swing" is only 4/5BI. Not that I've dealt with swings of this actual cash magnitude before, so maybe I'm not licensed to comment on how to cope; but I can't see it being too dissimilar to losing £400 at 50/1 out of a £4k roll. As long as you're rolling yourself properly for these games, it obviously hurts on the night, but then we think of all the 1,000BB wins we did last month. Feel free to contradict the micro stakes grinder, though...

Think it depends on your style also?

I play the 1/2 occasionally and normally sit with £200 - £400 and play pretty tight really, a little loose preflop but nothing out of line post. This I would have thought is a lot less swingy than if you play like Mitch who is aggro all over the table.

If I was to ever have a go at it properly I would prob want a bit more than alex suggests, maybe £20k and would then alwasy sit with £500 ish.

The swings have gotten bigger since I've been sitting deeper, I sit with 500, sometimes more if there's fish sat with more. It's become easier to deal with yes, mainly because of having a decent bankroll, like Sean says, it is all relative. I totally agree with the 400 out of 4k = 4k out of 40k notion.

Experience helps too, I know I've not being doing it that long, but I'm coping much better with the downswings than I used to.

Last night for example, was doing my brains, lost so many big pots in fairly quick succession, but I was still in pretty high spirits.

It was a night of two halves. So I'm down 2k, and I'm sat at the table with no chips, not really sure what to do. I was reading my book on stud/hilo that redarmi got me, I didn't feel I was in the right frame of mind to carry on but didn't wanna leave the table cos it was only midnight and it was fun, lively, and I wanted the hours for the cash game bonus! Mitch was insisting that all spectators be removed from the table however...

Honey badgers reccomendation of sitting short and grinding/spinning up worked a treat. I sat with £30 and grinded it out. I got it all in with Terry 3 times in a row and won all three (first two I was behind and got there, 3rd one was KK vs AK lol), so I've got 250 ish, then I, 3b call 99 vs a shortstack who had 33, 3 flop, case 9 on river wiii, so that was another 100.

Went down to 270 then raised AJhh to 18 over a straddle and a limp, 4ways to flop A35hcc checks to me I bet 40, giveyourcash makes it 100. Pretty gross spot, I'm in pretty bad shape vs his range, but meh, he's probably flushing Cheesy aarrrrinn again. And hold vs the monster draw of 5x cc. Game changes to round of each, I crush some souls at omaha but get hideously outdrawn by mitch who was trying to rep aces full (again) on 774A, I had AJxx and called 75 on the turn, was snapping off any river bet, but the river was a bloody 7, and apparently, in Omaha, now my hand is trip AJ kicker. So his TTxx no draw no hand wins, fishcake!!!

Never mind, bink the £75 5way flip at the end to get me up to 850 and on cloud 9, only down 1150 what a result! 30-850 pretty sick spin up, loved it!

To play devils advocate slightly Alex, do you think it could be bad to sit in the game with 30 quid/60 quid? Maybe sets a precedent for fish to reload short and think nothing of it which is bad for you regs?

This is the part of my game (and most other regs excluding you + Mitch) need to work on.

+ Winning any five flips (in a row)

yeh, agreed won't make a habit of it obv. there weren't really any nonregs in the game last night anyway to see this. it was a standard midweek reg fest, me, tom, stato, mitch, terry. one new guy who's been playing a bit more lately and a chinese fish who left at like 2 or 3. not great value.

This advice Dave/Stu gave me was my thinking behind it

like the most natural thing ever in gambling mate, happens to everyone, as you get a bit more experienced in happens less and less so it sounds like its pretty rare anyways for you, just really try an focus when you get tilted, Stu Barnett gave me some decent advice once and that was after a hand that might tilt you a bit that you get stacked in, just rebuy for like 40big blinds or something and grrriiiinnnnd it for 30mins, test you focus and patience where you dont risk chunks and then as soon as you think your focus is 100% back top up again.

If i'd reloaded for 500, i defo wouldn't played my best. But after an hour or so grinding and spinning up my focus was back on and I played fine once I got a stack again.
