Volume is ok imo, its really important as a pro to only play when you really feel up to it, 30 hours a week is about right prolly

Very much this.
It's too easy to become obsessed with volume (particularly when r/b / bonuses are involved), and to neglect good game selection, not playing tired etc....

Great year mate, really pleased for you.
Don't dissect it too much. Feel good about it for a few days, then it will all be forgotten and we start from zero again.
Hope  2012  is as good for tyou as this year has been.

In that book he also says 1000 hours a year is about the ceiling on the amount of 'good' practice it's possible to do, there's little point just going through the motions to make up the hours. Personally I will be looking to play around 500 hours of online cash next year, and maybe spend 20-25% hours on top analysing not playing, so I would say 1582 hours is pretty mindblowing volume imo.

Haven't finished it yet although have read a decent portion so you may be right.  He certainly talks about good quality practise and being properly motivated though and I think that is sometimes harder playing live and is something Alex himself admits with his comment about ipad etc.  I would imagine 500 hours of cash online>1500 hours of live cash in terms of quality of time spent and hands played especially if multi-tabling.

Excellent start to 2012 Smiley

Saw it in sitting alone in my living room with Keith! Not quite what I'd expect to be doing on NYE, but things didn't really work out as I wanted them to. Ended up having a fun night nevertheless, we went to Will Fry's house for some beers and chilling. His girlfriend and her 12 year old daughter were there and it was all a bit bizarre. Left at 1130 to met Sean and Beth, they didnt arrive till 1230 though. Armed with canadian candy (beth is canadian) we did what all cool kids do after midnight on NYE - we played monopoly.

Was a lot of fun (especially the winning part Wink ) and nice to stay in and have a laugh without needing to get pissed and spend ridic $.

Today, Andy and Thigh went to the darts - I decided to begin the online grind of 2012 and make a good start to my 20k hands a month resolution.

Had some really tilting bank issues and was really short on cash in my account (bout 700), so had to 3 table then when I had enough to 4 table, I'd close down whichever had >2 buyins on and start up 2 new ones. By the end of the night I was 7 tabling and running golden everywhere. Won about 1700 and about 400 on stars in HUSNGs so a 2.1k day Smiley Played 1600 hands of cash, so a great start - need to average 645 per day so 1600 is great.

Only tilting moment of the day was flopping quad kings in a 4bet pot, barrelling the flop, barrelling the turn, and then have Holly run across my laptop and put it on standby somehow! Oh my I was so pissed at her! Luckily my laptop is fkn sick and rebooted so fast I don't think I lost anything. The guy folded the turn anyway. Now all's forgiven, she's asleep on my lap.

Took a break at 10 to pop down to the cinema with Keys and a couple of mates to see the new Mission Impossible. It was fkn incredible - really really sick film. So many awesome stunts / action sequences and it's the best MI i've seen. One scene in particular of him scaling a 150 floor building in Dubai is sooooo good. Fit bird in too which is always nice, and Simon Pegg is hilarious. Thoroughly recommend it. Though the guys I was with didn't think it was as good as me, said it was a bit far-fetched (er hello?). Which of course it is - very. But so what, it's amazing!

Great start to the year!

Avast is free online and pretty top notch from what I've read. Get some spyware protection too

100% this. Never had any issues with Avast. Norton was itself the death of my first laptop: very CPU-intensive.

Do not get Eset. If you remove it and try and install other anti virus it goes mental and somewhere very deep in the hidden files is the solution.

ok go for the free AVG option then, just don't keep anything worthwhile online, like money, personal details etc....

AVG or Avast, free stuff does infact work. Personally use AVG, never had a problem in...shit almost a decade, FML.
