Nice to have a change in fortunes, my live sessions over the last month have been so depressing. Looking back I noticed that the day the downswing started (which is about 9k now) was comic relief day. A day I decided to good something good for the world and donate £300 to comic relief. Ever since then I've done my brains! So much for good karma!

Anyway, I haven't been playing much at all lately - just working on the business 24/7. 90% sure I'm gonna give the website guy the goahead tomorrow or tuesday and get things officially started. It's all I can think about at the moment.

Wasn't even gonna play today, but I decided to last minute, I was on the phone to Hannah, I was thinking out loud "shall I play this hyper turbo", she was like "nah you always say they're really silly, all luck", I said "yeh true, but it's still possible to have an edge and they're really fun!". So I played it.

Was grinding a bowl most of the time, always 10bigs or less pretty much, then went on a heater and became a huge chip leader with about 15 left. Knocked out a few more, laddered a bit - 6 handed and then just had 4 hands pretty much in succession that won it for me. Knocked out two with KQ vs AQ and KJ, even after an AJx flop, found the Ten ball on the river Cheesy Found Kings the next hand when someone shoved K9o - nice shape to be in. Then bvb someone shoves, I snap A9, AAxxA for quads, heads up, I shove first hand J7o, he has Aces and we flop three sevens and that's it - $8k Smiley
That's my biggest ever online win by quite some distance.

Up 7.5k $ on the day, but then went to DTD, lost JJ<AA for a 1.3k pot on the 2/5 table- so the live misery continues- but morale of course, is very high after the comp win Smiley

A few snaps from the Railway museum in York.

Is this the train you told us to have a look at Tikay?

Probably this one...

I nearly got cross when I saw Thomas, but then I saw dear old 6,000, & that iconic brass bell.

That be her.

Incidentally, you'll be fascinated by this, as will all your Diary readers.

Underneath the number "6000" you can see, at the bottom, a smaller number - "82C".

That's called a "shed code", & every steam locomotive had a shed code - it is their "home base", where they are based, belong, & are looked after.

The Great Western Region had all the "80" series. The GWR is further broken into areas, with each area sharing a shed code, & the smaller depots, or "sheds" as they were known, having the suffix letter. The London area of GWR had "81", Bristol had "82". Swindon works - where she was built - falls under Bristol, so was 82C.

Dad's base was HQ - Old Oak Common, near Paddington, which was 81a. It was always a bone of contention which was superior - OOC or Swindon, 81A or 82C.

Its all shown here.....

http://www.greatwestern.org.uk/m_in_gwr_sheds.htm

And in more detail, here.....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_British_Railways_shed_codes

See, I did tell you is was fascinating.

Enjoy.

I know. I always feel so stupid when I get frustrated by downswings. Mitch and I were discussing how strange it is that you can go on a 5 figure upswing, then lose a few grand over a few sessions and feel like shit!

It's the entiltement factor - you feel you are a good player so you deserve to win all those times, when you lose, you feel it's unfair because you don't deserve to lose being such a good player! It's nonsense of course, and we know that, but it's human instinct to have that niggling feeling in the back of your mind "hey, that's pretty annoying!".

Went on a really good night out last night. it was JKs birthday, so went out with him and his crew from alea, plus professional poker player-cum-dealer Sean Belton, Thomas "knocking-it-in-for-team_eureaka" Thigh, and Paul "Peejay and Duncan" Jenkinson.

Different crowd to usual, but it was really really fun. We had a great laugh, we made Paul England (Hi Paul!) who will do ANyTHING for money, eat a pitcher of ice in 30 minutes for £100 freeroll, he didn't even get close, but finished it in about 50minutes 'just to prove he could'! Was hilarious.

Notts is pretty dead on a monday but when you're with a good crowd it doesn't really matter. Got my boy PJ the number of a really fit barmaid who he said he liked, love wingmanning! He built up the courage to text her (bless him) and we're waiting anxiously on the results.

Raised £600 for oxfam via the sweepstake, mainly thanks to Dave Burn who gave 20% of his winnings, but really pleased with how it went.

Transferred a very hefty some of money over to my website guy today, who's beginning on the project now. 38days he predicts it'll take to build, so could be out mid May, but allowing for a couple of weeks leeway, 1st June seems a realistic launch date. Excitaments!
