Just FYI Alex, I'm pretty sure Moorman has had a six figure downswing at ABI $200 before, that's a 500 buyin swing and this is arguably the best mtt player in the world, so careful with these online mtts if you're feeling a little light.

Thanks Smiley

My abi is 50$ so a 25k downswing would not be nice. Might take some of the bigger ones off the sched. I don't think my edge in 82hypers is very large either!

Chris Moorman : A How-To guide to Bankroll Management

Would be a good read.

http://www.nsdpoker.com/2011/01/mtt-pros/

have a look at this, and the follow up.

Warning: May make you not want to play online mtts with any regularity after reading. Pretty scary stuff

yeh I read that a while back, good to reread though, shocking stats!

So we had a mare today. Really bad day.

The meeting went OK, not huge amounts of progress to be honest.

Then I went to the Vic to play cash to try and make some dough.

1) Get in £400 with vs on , so he's just got 6 outs ftw, rivers it Sad

2) We batter this guy up all session (just had it everytime to be honest lol but he kept folding and could tell he thought I was bluffing at least one of the times and was getting riled) then I opened to £15, he 3b to £60 I called in position and he checked two hearts and I bet £60, he almost instantly said allin for £500. Pretty sure this is AK 95% of the time, so I called fairly quickly and happy that I was vlikely to be a big favourite to win a ~£1200 pot and get me out of the hole and winning about £500. The turn was the so I knew I was dead then. Sure enough he had AK and the river bricked Sad That was a nasty one.

So in a less than #lovingthegame mood, I decided to quit the game and just get the train home. Firstly left my bag in the vic, had to walk up 125 stairs from the tube platform and 10 minutes there and back to get it. Stopped off in a pastry shop to get something to cheer me up - left my iPad on the counter. MARV.

Realised just before getting on the tube, so it was back up the 125 stairs again, back to the shop - they hadn't seen it. 5 staff members all hadn't seen it. Brilliant. I conclude that someone mustve snatched it from under my arm whilst hustling for the tube or something. Nothing I can do, I just give up and go home. My phone's dead so there's no-one I can ring. Train service bricks at Grantham, get put on a bus (tilt) and once I'm finally home, I get an answerphone message from the pastry shop saying that's it's "turned up" and can I come and collect it. Phew. But not easy to just pop down and collect it, and ridiculously they won't give it to a friend or anything, it has to be me that collects it! I was going into London at the weekend for a concert anyway so I'll just get it then.

Thoroughly miserable day. Made much better by a lovely dinner and evening with Hannah Smiley AND a fantastic business idea that me and Hannah had in a brainstorming session! #backhappy

Sorry to hear about the bad run in the poker m8. Just remember tho that a key-skill to playing on your own especially in high-variance games like online MTTs is the ability to move up and down stakes as your bankroll fluctuates. Sure it can suck big time to drop down after a downswing and not play games you're +ev in but it's a necessary skill to have. Something a lot of people seem to lack though... But as a result it massively reduces downswings and almost eliminates your chance of going busto (given the assumption of being +ev at lower stakes). If you can't handle dropping stakes every once in a while getting backed is the easy answer. But IMO fight through, move up-and-down as your roll fluctuates and get back to winning ways Smiley

Decided to punish my soul (jeez sounding like Belton now) a little more after I posted that - DTD had a full 1/2 game going (at 1am on a Tuesday, what's going on!?) so headed down and by the time I got there Ged was stacking TWO people at once and the game was breaking.

Rescued it however and played 3 handed with Ged and Bald Andy for a while, was pretty fun - interesting playing with Ged, he's pretty fucking aggro! Made some hands vs him though and ran pretty decent (think I flush over flushed him one hand for a double up) did lose small one (can't go a whole post without complaining about something!) somehow last vs on for £250 each vs bald Andy. No idea how it's even possible to lose that but somehow I did lol.

No matter, won £700 for less than 2 hours work, can't say fairer than that.

Does Dtd not get many cash games mid week. Where is everyone at home playing on line or in other cardrooms?

Yeh. We've got a table at their £500k party beforehand too.

Nah this is probably the polar opposite of JayZ and Kayne West...

What's posh about a brainstorming session!?

Wasn't an official session, just hanging out, we got onto a topic that was bugging me and she helped me out!
