I can confirm as someone whose primary/only source of income has been online poker for nearly 7 years. I am exactly what Alun B describes and that the pure freedom the job provides is easily the best thing about it imo.

regarding the keith johnson thing, it was a widespread subconscious read that I think I have form a psychological pov rather than a poker leak or mistake he/anyone makes.
it was only funny cos keith doesn't even play 5/10 let alone 2/4 it doesnt matter because i wasnt saying anything about any game in particular, he could play nl2 for all i cared. |

With all due respect playing SNG's and playing cash games are very different, I doubt I would enjoy playing SNG's for 1 year, nevermind 7, which is one of the reasons why I respect you guys so much. |

I've tried playing most forms of poker online. I've always enjoyed them for the first few weeks and then got bored and gone back to live. Then a few months later gone back to something else.
I started with normal SNGs, then HUsngs then 25nl back to HU sngs, then 100nl on sky, 200nl on ongame, now MTTs.
I'm loving MTTs more than any form of poker I've ever played before online and hopefully I'll stick to them for months and years to come, but they still don't come close to a good live cash game.

yeh its just something I cant understand or get my head around, but obviously respect whatever you think is best and if you think that your winrate after everything considered is higher in live cash than online then ofc you should play live. sorry for thread hijac  |

My winrate online probably is higher than live but so what? Say my winrate is £50/hour online and £30/hour live. I'd rather play online 4 nights a week and live 2 nights a week than online 6 nights a week and no live. Even if it makes me less money. |

I could play a live cash game forever, online not so much. Probably due to fatigue and number of decisions. Also love online tournies. Interesting its going so well, happy for you mate. Internet has been down at mine for a month but I still have ideas for an interview if your up for it. No pressure with business, hp etc, but I'd love to fit it in

Be interesting to see how u guys feel about poker in say 5 years. I guess I've been playing around 10 years or so, and I have to motivate myself to play these days, I can't be bothered most of the time now apart from the odd stint here and there.

needs to win 0.261 euros/hand = 4.35bb/100 for €156/hr to win
Throw in 50% rakeback and thats 1k euros in the 7200 hands so pads only has to actually win €876 in the games = €12.17/100 hands = 2.03bbs/100
Even if pleno breaks even you still need to win £800=160bbs=53.3bb/100 just to tie.
Genuinely might never play live cash again after this summer

Only posted that cos I was curious about how a prop bet would work, not trying to dispute that life balance isn't important, but if you're using time that you've earmarked for playing poker, its pretty clear that online > live unless the value of playing live over online is worth big 5 figures to you, probably close to 6 over the year.
