plus you got to pay expenses etc.
DTD is 5 minutes away and you get free food and drink in VIP games.
I think you're right the AVERAGE hourly is better online, but for a saturday night game with the right lineup, I reckon its more profitable than online, unless you're playing 1knl+.

if you are playing in a GOOD online game it is always going to be better than a GOOD live game.
If we bet every Friday how much you won vs how much I won online (assuming we were exactly as good as eachother and had same mental strength etc etc and the games were exactly the same) then the online player would always win.
You mentioned 200 and 500nl where the rake is alot higher than online too, if you say a 1knl+ game live then id understand maybe if huge businessman jsut punting it off

pros of live
social activity (this can even be bad alot of the time, if youre playing full time and going to casino at night then you can go out in the day etc)
live reads
Pro's of online
more hands per hour
more tables to choose from (ie you dont play if game is hard, at vic game may be bad but your commited to keep playing)
can play on any site you like, play different stakes/table sizes etc etc
less rake than live
software to analyse players which I think is alotttt bigger and better than live reads
the game quality doesn't matter as you can easily find as soft a game online as you can live, especially at 200nl, you also hvae software such as tablescanner etc that aid you in finding you good tables on multiple sites, live you dont have scouts in casinos letting you know about good games

hes a PROFESSIONAL poker player and Friday/Saturday is when you make the most money in poker. So if you want to enjoy life then its usually best to do so midweek.
also one thing I didn't add was downswings are alot harder to deal with live.

I take all your points about the pros of online and agree with them, except I don't believe you can find online games as soft as some of the live games I've played in (at 500nl +). I'm playing tournaments online anyway, not cash.
Also, remember I play 2/5 sterling, which is like 4/8 USD, plus the games are like always 200-1000bb deep and straddled to 10 and often 20. I don't think you appreciate how soft they can be.
Then again, I suppose I don't have nailed on bet sizing tells on some of the 2-4 microgaming regs like Keith Johnson

Yes but you are still allowed to enjoy your PROFESSIONAL life. In fact it is to be actively encouraged.
If you can earn $100k a year doing something you like and $75k a year doing a job you love which is 'better'?
Chasing money for money's sake is a route to burn out and misery IMO.

+1
I've always said I'd rather earn £50k having a sick life, going around the world etc, than earning 100k stuck inside my bedroom 24/7.

You can, although I'm yet to meet any long term grinder who really LOVES playing online all day every day. As in someone who loves their job not just the freedom and money it gives them.
As a long term lurker in this diary my impression is Alex loves playing live and you weren't factoring that in at all.

theres alot more online players that hate playing live than that hate playing online imo.
so many online guys love the game and abs love grinding, they arent the kind of people you'd meet who would do an interview in a magazine, but thats for a reason.
im not trying to get into a dispute or anything anyway, was just trying to give some advice.

So was I mate. You seem a little more reluctant to take it than give it though
I'm not talking about people I've interviewed, I'm talking about people I've met in poker. But it's a moot point and a bit of a tangent so let's not get caught up in it. Come back to me in 3 years and tell me how many of those grinders still love the game.

regarding the keith johnson thing, it was a widespread subconscious read that I think I have form a psychological pov rather than a poker leak or mistake he/anyone makes.

Lets assume that Alex wins at 100bb/100 at £2/5 and plays for 12 hours = £1500 win for a £125 hourly
pleno playing 6 turbo tables of €3/6 needs to win €1876 in 12 hours to win. 100 hands/hour*6 tables = 7200 hands
needs to win 0.261 euros/hand = 4.35bb/100 for €156/hr to win
Throw in 50% rakeback and thats 1k euros in the 7200 hands so pads only has to actually win €876 in the games = €12.17/100 hands = 2.03bbs/100
Even if pleno breaks even you still need to win £800=160bbs=53.3bb/100 just to tie.
Genuinely might never play live cash again after this summer
