Most excellent post Tikay
i love how you never post ITT except when someone comes on having a bit of a pop at me, then you just say "good post"
Lol are you kidding me no matter where he posted that I would have said excellent post
Alex if you would rather I didn't post on your thread just say I'm a very big girl and I promise not to be upset by it
Tikay did say it wasn't aimed at you in particular and I never took it as that and just because I said something 1 time you didn't like it does not mean I'm out to get you but if you feel that I am then you can come and speak to me at dtd if you like I see you there enough
Sorry if I offended you

No no no, Alex, 100% it was NOT a pop at you, quite the opposite in effect.
It's a wide subject, & it's been troubling me for ages, & I could not decide quite how to broach it, or where.
Please accept it as a compliment that after having a lovely private chat with you on Friday in Walsall, I decided there & then that when I eventually got round to airing the subject, I'd do it on your Diary, because that way, I knew I'd get an adult & reasoned debate going.
By sheer chance, the Live Update thread went a bit sour (imo) on Sunday, so the time to discuss it was suddenly perfect, the boil was ready to be squeezed.
It is NOT directed necessarily at you, not at all. You are in that "disrespectful" gang, on Forum, at least, & yet here's the thing, in "real life" you are deferential, respectful, & polite. One of those oddities, but so many online persona's are different in the flesh. It's a peer pressure thing, I think.

As a matter of curiosity (we got a good debate going now, happy days) when someone Posted a few weeks ago "all the regs at 50nl on 'Stars are tez", not one person argued. Please don't tell me, though, that a single person (assuming they had a brain) fell for that? I don't recall ever seeing a statement that made less sense, to be honest. And yet nobody quibbled with it.
If 50nl on 'Stars was really full of tez players, well, work it out for yourself. Well, let me correct that. They MAY be terribad, but good players - us, the TRM Level 5 super-dooper players - can't beat them......
What exactly does that tell us?

Agreed, in truth, but I originally typed "the spot was ready to be squeezed" but I thought Alex Martin might have thought it was Level 5 speak & replied in kind.

Sorry, but I don't know what that means. Loved the "always often" bit though!

my 2p coins worth is this...
If you play poker purely for the money, then your job is to look for value, I myself often play on sites that i think are "softer", and look for live games with weaker players cos i think i'll make more money. Predatory attitude, not the nicest thingn either but business is business and this is the way of the world.
If you dont play purely for money, then you're playing for the victory, I play with guys in live games all the time and I won't for a second insult there intelligence and suggest they don't know im there to play them because I think im better and can make some money off them, so they are playing to beat me, the guy who thinks he's better.
Denying these people their victory (in a way like the back end of that thread did to Alan) is a) rude and disrespectful, b) arrogant and c) very bad for business. shake hands, congratulate them on beating you fair and square and be thankful you were in a good value spot or if you weren't berate yourself cos you've done your job badly.
R.E the 50nl on stars debate, that is a stake occupied mostly by players of a lower standard, for many reasons, players "cutting their teeth", players "just getting a feel for poker" or recreational players who enjoy the game a bit, dont know too much and want to "have a dabble"
Most people capable of beating the stake play higher stakes which makes your argument a bit cyclical tikay, but everyone has to start somewhere and we were all "tez" at some point, so I for one certainly will never berate anyone for playing 50nl or call them tez.
Often when people say Xgames are soft and Y players are tez what they actually mean is "I'VE HEARD Xgames are soft andYplayers are tez" because in my experience most pro's that find value places are unwilling to share it.

Fine Post, & I agree with most of it.
Your view as to my comment about 50nl regs on 'Stars being cyclical is fair comment, but then again, "terrible" is relative.
Let me put it this way. If they really are bad, but the "good players" have moved up a Level or two, but can't make any money there (& most - almost all of us - can't) then why don't they just move back to 50nl & make a shed load of money every day? 6 or 8 Tabling, if they are so good, & the 50NL players so relatively bad, they could make, what, £500 per day, £3k per week, £150k per year?.......
Which, of course, is nonsense, because very few could.
By the bye, you commented on "predatory play". IMO, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, quite the opposite, it's just common sense. In effect, "take all my money, please, that's fine, but don't disrespect me or mock me, because if you do, I'll go elsewhere, & you'll lose my value". Instead, the alleged "lesser" players are continually berated. Go figure!
I absolutely adored the 3rd para of your Post. (Denying these people their victory etc....)
I believe you were at Walsall whilst I was there, & I really hoped we'd bump into each other, or be introduced, because I was keen to get to know you beyond the "virtual" Forum parameters. I thought your line, today, on the Rivered Thread, was spot on, but I'm keeping away from that for the moment!

yeah i was in Walsall, but was doing my bollox in some "really soft" cash games lol so was in a grumpy mood for the majority of the week :p
the 50nl thing just boils down to $/hour vs winrate, we could go round in circles for hours on that one tho, like mr keys said if you can beat that stake well enough you should prolly be playing 50/1 or 1/2 and making more money...
I live in leeds and meeting an old friend of mine at this sky poker thingy at the grosvenor, so i'll look you out for a drink if you're about?
