Fwiw, I played this massive fish online yesterday who does read this thread, but I didn't call him out on here for being a spot. I GIQ and kept him happy, took him out to nando's last night and we had a nice time.

May results
Total Profit £1697
Hours 128 hrs
A win’s a win. Not a great one but in the face of March and April, I’m happy with it. Pleased with the volume this month, depsite going Germany and Slovenia I’ve managed to grind a decent amount of hours. Into some tourney makeup as well now which doesn’t come up on the stats, but it’s only like 3 comps. Hopefully will run good in a comp soon and get out of it and do a binkkkkkkk. Let’s crush June

Are your figures gross or is some of that owed to your backer? Decent results.

1700 is fine. Does this include coaching earnings?
Sad to see he didnt want more lessons, maybe wants to move up to a mid-stakes coach

So Alex, if you don't mind me asking, if it were a £500 loss, would you be in makeup or does your backer stand the losses?

Alex think your comments are fine if your student doesn't mind. Only you will know the relationship you have with him although it may damage future prospects of getting students.
However I do object to your comments about people posting stuff on your diary. You're brutally honest here. Why wouldn't you expect the same from people reading/contributing to your diary?

I'd be in makeup. So if I made £1000 this week, I'd pay back the 500. and split the profit 250each.

Yeh I see your point. It just surprised me because I could never imagine going onto say mondatoo's or Cos' diary's for example, and writing disapproving comments about something they did or said. I do like the feedback though, and enjoy the interaction and I don't want that to stop.

Just to throw a different slant on things, what qualifies anyone to be a Poker Coach? Do you have to have a Deepstack/UKIP/EPT/WSOP winner or generally a damn good cash? I read and enjoy the content of this diary (Alex this is not a dig/criticism so please do not take it as one) and the fact that you coach is great. Generally most of your readers have a good understanding of the game. If I compared Poker in relation to Golf I would say I play off a 8 handicap. The problem is when ever I play people who I know are better than me I make mistakes and come off 2nd best. I predominantly have played cash over the last 3years and been in profit 2008/09 and nudged a £15K NET PROFIT from £1-£2 cash in 2010.
I have a decent well paid job and play recreationally and do not have the time to play bigger comps due to family commitments. 2011 has seen me play bigger games (Online &Live), come off 2nd best, play badly and donk off £17k YTD. I am currently taking a short term break but my point is if had taken a break from Golf I would pay someone X who is qualified as a scratch golfer to refresh and help regain my swing. Ironically paying £50 for an hours coaching would not be an issue, but to be fair I would not want to play with the risk of losing £3k at the same time HU.
I generally think there is a good market for a Poker Coach and this FORUM would be an excellent opportunity for someone to market their services. At the same time I would want a degree of certainty I was getting value from an accredited coach. I pay for golf lessons so why not poker?!

LOL, this whole 'coaching' thing has turned a bit weird.
I dont think Alex had planned any of this. It came as a bit of a get rich quick scheme, with barely seeing Alex play, he agreed that he would pay him £50 a hour to learn the pokerz.
Alex obv couldn't be bother to plan anything for him and basically charged him to talk though a few hands while sipping a pint in a bar. That being said, if he put his mind to it, Alex tends to put his point across quite well and im sure this would be beneficial to some players who are willing to listen.
In terms of poker coaching in general (Ive never given or had any), if somebody is a decent bit better than you, in theory you should learn something.
The problem is, some people are much better at getting there point across than others, so don't just go book in for 10 hours at £50 a pop with someone coz they owned you in a pot once.
Guess im lucky that a lot of my mates are decent players and we can bounce ideas of eachother, sometimes Alex doesn't even make me pay!
Also, its defiantly not that case that you should only be willing to pay somebody who has a major title to their names. Not to call anybody out, but theres people who have won comps that i probably wouldn't listen to if they paid me.
