Good post by Tom, you could deffo get him playing HU with you online, where you can play more hands, less rake, and charge him for the privilege and then go over HH's.
Also means you can carry on with the 'lessons' when he moves away.
he hasnt requested anymore lessons im afraid, i think he's been put off...

Hello everybody,
I am the infamous 'Student' aka Cormac... What would I pay to see poshboy's face right now?? Probably just about £50, it would definitely be more EV than that excuse of a lesson that I got by the 'teacher' a couple of weeks ago. Hey, here's a thought Alex how about you take a picture of your face and then post it on here, I can then transfer you the money since you are so cash desperate to the point that I almost feel a little pity. Emphasis on almost. If your 'Insights' into the game hadn't already put me off, then I'm sure this pathetic display of your professional discreetness and common decency upon mentioning my name on a public forum certainly should have done the job. Talk about damaging reputations, hypocrite. If all else fails than at the very least your apparent lack of brains at the prospect of publicly belittling a supposed customer on your blog AFTER recommending it to him during said lesson. Nice move mate - almost as good as good as getting it all-in pre with

vs a 5-bet

. Pro!
Quiet frankly i thought you were quiet a nice bloke, but apparently you were just 'keeping me happy', well congrats mate well done I'm glad for you. I wish you all the best with your 'friends' keeping you happy. It is quiet ironic how literally the one useful lesson you taught me was just now on this blog underlining exactly how backstabbing and conniving poker sharks actually are, and all of that for exactly 0 pennies. Check that for an EV spot.
And just to clarify some general misconceptions here on this blog:
I did not know Alex was a HU 'specialist' and I didn't make that realisation after my 'privilege' of playing against him either.
I did NOT insist on playing against him nor was I dying to do so. When I did play against him, the last thing that crossed my mind were potential bragging rights.
The table simply broke up and there was no seat on the other game so I simply wanted to pass my time with a nice friendly HU game whilst waiting.
If I'm very honest,i never saw Alex as particularly -EV. His game is simply straightforward and solid. Not more and not less. There is no real creativity or imagination to it, and it isnt exactly unpredictable. To clarify I doubled him up early on giving him £300, where granted he made a good call with 2nd Pair which i didnt think he was capable of. But judging by at least a further 4-5 spots where I turn/river bluffed him with more or less air ball I doubt it would be too daring to consider that call a lucky hit. As for the remaining hour of play, I slowly got back £100. So much for being a good spot.
There were several occasions where I strongly considered joining the other game but Alex literally almost desperately begged me to stay because he was having 'so much fun'. I stayed because I felt a little sorry but also because at no point did I see my stack in particular danger. So much for Alex not once influencing me to play him or me dying to play.
Oh and btw Alex dont take personally or offence to any of this. I'm only being 'extremely honest', since this seems to be the going trend in this blog.
Good night.
Sincerely yours,
The Spot
