Today was a different sort of Christmas than ever before.

-It was the first time we've ever had xmas lunch without my Dad. He spent it in his house with his girlfriend and her brother. Me and my brothers where with my Mum and her new boyfriend and her parents, our grandparents (not the ones who wrote me the nasty letter!). It was strange, we missed him a lot, but he didn't seem to mind /care. Mum missed him, it was sad.

-First time we didn't go to church in as long as I can remember. I've been to church on christmas morning every year of my life as far as I know. This year, it just wasn't right. Santa still came in the night and we had stockings all piled into one bed at 8am, standard - that was fun. Then I just went back to sleep and woke up at 11 for champagne and bites.

-Lunch was nice/standard. Mum always does a good job. Good banter with the grandparents (mainly revolving around my Grandpa's constant refilling of his wine glass) and just trying to get through it all without an argument.

-Presents. decent haul this year. The top present is undoubtedly my new bike which Mum bought me. It's really simple and classic, with just three gears. Blue and white with brown leather seat and handle bars. Looks really classy. I love it. Gonna use it mainly for cycling to and from Hannahs and occasional dtd/town trips. Was thinking again about buying a car cos you can actually get really decent newish cars for <5k. But now I won't bother! Other highlights include a balla white robe like you get in hotels (was on my list ldo), the mental game of poker, ted baker slippers and some cat treats for Holly.

Speaking of Holly, getting so much enjoyment out of her recently. The last few weeks she's been so much fun to have around, absolutely loving it, so happy I got her. Thinking about getting another kitten, but have some serious battles on my hands with that one, too many stubborn minds to change i think Sad

Overall was still a jolly fun day of course, just a bit different and I guess it'll never be like it used to be now they've both got new partners. We just thought ONE day in the whole year we could have a meal all together but it just didn't work out.

Here's a pic of me and my new bike.

We have always had 2 cats they are company for each other .the only problem is as one gets older it gives any new arrival a hard time but they learn to avoid each other
2 cats ago I got a few phone calls I didn't know who from . Turned out to be from a vet in town .our cat hadn't been home for a day or 2 ,eventually we made contact
" hello mr tats we have your cat here "
"is it ok ?"
" no it's been run over "
Now ex mrs tats wanted to see it ,so we go to vets
It got run down on London road found by somebody who thought it was theirs subsequently buried
Two days later their cat walks in the door ,so they dig our cat up ( I presume to check a miracle hadn't occurred) n take it to vet who scans it's microchip n rings us
The vet had frozen it !!! Wtf ?
So there it was stiff as a board and covered with topsoil
So we reburied it

We just thought ONE day in the whole year we could have a meal all together but it just didn't work out.

Here's a pic of me and my new bike.

I feel absolutely terrible that reading these two sentences back to back made me howl. Deadpan/sadsack humour ftw.

In all seriousness though mate, I'm sorry your Christmas didn't have its familiar festivities, but for what it's worth I don't think a lot of people's did, for various reasons. I used to know it was Christmas because my immediate family would drive round to Cotgrave and see various aunties and uncles and drop off some presents. No matter how old I was, I always got the sensation I got when I was a child; that I was helping Santa. Now that a lot of my relatives are not with us, there's no dividing line and Christmas day just sort of rolls around and clears off again. As quoted by a famous author, though, "Christmas is not a day of the year, but a state of the mind." You're a shining example of this, clearly, as I've never seen anyone my age (no rubs intended) looking as Christmassy as you do right there.

I might stop with the condescending, faux-feelgood posts on your diary soon mate. Starting to feel like the Dalai Lama. Glad you ended up enjoying your Christmas though, and congrats again on a great 2011. See you soon for some birthday beats and shit.

Thanks for that Sean. You didn't ask about my mince pie run good story? There was 6 left in the monte carlo and I folded utg, then Hannah told me from the rail that she had brought a mince pie for me to eat. What a hero, I leave my seat to eat it and by the time I take the first bite, I see that someone is all in K9 vs KK. If KK hold then I ladder up to 5th, about 4k difference. I say "cheers huni, this could be a 4 grand mince pie" and it was Smiley #4kmincepiesftw!

***

Didn't play poker for a week after the monte carlo, played a tiny bit last night, some HU SNGs on stars, just fancied it after match of the day. It's nice being able to take a break, and I honestly just totally forgot about poker for that week, didn't miss it at all.

Been hanging out with my brothers mostly, playing Worms 2 and Hearts with my Dad. Watched several films-

Taken - Liam Neeson thriller. Nothing special, entertaining. Storyline was moderately plausible until the auction scene where they're bidding 500grand for girls!

One flew over the cuckoos nest - Dad basically forced us to watch it on Xmas Day. Classic. Awesome old school film, really enjoyed it. I'd heard of it before cos it's so famous but would never ever chose to watch a film like that, so glad I was forced to.

Harry Potter 7 II - don't get me wrong I fkn love Harry Potter. The books were incred, by far the best books I've ever read (seriously). But the films are just shit. I only enjoyed it cos me and my brothers had a laugh taking the piss and it's got some cool bits in + the soundtrack is pretty good. Oh and I love Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman (Mcgonagall and Snape), sick actors. But I hate DR he's an awful actor imo and it's all just sooo cheesy and cringeworthy it's awful. Having said  that, it's the best HP film there is so worth a watch I guess.

Got 3 more days off then back to notts on the 30th.

I guess it's possible they are the best books you've ever read, but they're still shit.

I also watched OFOTCN recently, heartbreaking film. I am in the process of going through imdb's top 100 using lovefilm. Try "12 Angry Men" next, incred.

Heartily. They sent me some friends and family free-trial vouchers the other day, I guess you could have one, I'm sure they don't check.
