Took part in the first ever 1/3 ever held at DTD last night. Did NOT go well, despite winning the first hand and being up about 700 at one point - got mitched pretty hard after that. Haven't been for aaaages and it's been so nice not seeing that "I got there" grimace, or hear that horrible derby accent come through as he announces the hand ranking to which the river card has miraculously promoted him.
He's managed to cold call a 3b with
which is pretty normal, and then flop
, also normal, when I have 55. We get £230 in each on the flop, then see the turn,
, I bet £290 he shoved for £840 and I snap, but don't fade his enormous [ ] draw. That was like a 2.2k pot, bit annoying, but didn't really mind - I think I've probably held in those spots 7/8 times on the bounce now so I was bound to lose one eventually, sigh it had to be to the massive monson.
He then did me with
vs my
on
, which you wouldn't think was likely, but heyho. somehow he did, I bet flop 45, bet turn 120 (brick) and shoved river 320 (
- not brick) and he called ofc. Out of all the rivers in the deck I think there's 3, maybe 6 that he stacks me on. I probably shove a Jack, but might not. In fact I don't think I would. Anyway, this is starting to sound awfully whining, let me find that picture of the little girl again...
We're still absolutely loving the game, so excited about a bunch of stuff coming up soon, and I'm working on something that really excites me, watch this space!
