I believe it starts at 8, and I haven't heard anything about it not running, should start on time.

Hey Alex,
Just joined the forum today, so just read the 1st page of your post!
Good on you mate being opened up to the "outside" world during your gap year.
That's the great thing about poker, it brings people from all manner of different backgrounds together.
No idea if you play poker for a living or not, if you do, how did your parents react to that?

Hi, yes played for a living just over 3 years now. I think I eased my parents into it which made it easier! I was looking into going into some form of work after I dropped out of uni, which they approved of, and then I got a big result about 8 months after I started which sort of helped them to see that I could do it and they could see how happy it was making me so they were supportive after that.
There was never a big announcement "I'm going to do this for a living", I think that might have shocked and worried them a lot! It was just a gradual slippery slope into fulltime degeneracy!

Great stuff Alex, good to hear it's working out for you and your parents were cool with it.
How are you finding it now? Is it mostly live poker you play?

I'm finding it very swingy. Most of the time I love it, love the lifestyle etc, but reasonably frequently I hate it and really detest having my entire life subject to variance every single day. I love travelling and going to different places and it's taken me literally all round the world so I wouldn't swap it for anything right now.
Playing a mixture of live and online, depending how I'm running/feeling and where the action is best.

So we got 12 runners for the Open Face tournament last night. A couple less than expected but still OK for a first go.
It was loads of fun, Linton was first to bust, I was 9th and this was the final table

Marris bubbled!

And the winnner!

Same time next week, this time it's 1x re-entry though! We had a £5/point cash game afterwards too that's been pretty fun the last couple of nights. Me and Stato predicted won of us would win the comp, and then lose the entire first prize in the first hand of the cash game- which is exactly what happened!

I advertised it repeatedly on Facebook twitter and here lol! Was getting close to spamming I thought! Happy to listen to ideas how to make it bigger / reach out to a wider audience than my Facebook friends

would love to play and as today is my last working day there is nothing stopping me. Wiiii
Never played ofc live and never been to gala. what's parking and dress code like? Do I need my own stab vest?
Final question, from the pics it looks like the game is 5 handed. how does that work assuming it's not 2 decks?
