I'd also say do things with friends. Doing things alone when you're not an expert and perhaps scared is daunting for anybody. If theres a couple or a few of you who can bounce ideas off eachother or shut down bad ideas etc it can work a lot better, also reduces the variance and its great for morale.

There's such a small % of people who could realistically be professional poker players and you fall into that %.
Sorry to just pick out this bit but its the first bit I read and has stuck in my head.
Have you changed your mind completely about this? You said a while ago that you could pick any random x ppl off the street and teach them to beat x nl online if they were willing to put the work in. And comments like "anyone can earn >2k a month playing online if they put their mind to it".
The above seems to be the opposite of that.

yeah but the reality is nobody has that person to sit with them 24/7 and teach them how to play. you taught yourself everything, had the right approach, the right way to deal with risk, when to slow down whilst keeping life ev.
obviously if you or i had somebody who's sole objective was to teach us to be better at poker we'd be way further ahead (and richer!) than we are now.
wcgrider for example took in this kid in Vegas who moved to be a dealer and had never played poker before and within 8 months (i think?) he was playing 10knl online and beat Ivey HU in the 25k in vegas.

Alex I am really really similar to you on this. It's something that's been playing over and over in my head lately too.
I think I want 3 more years of poker, where I just get my head down and play a lot and work hard and then get out.
I definitely don't want to go back into the office environment that I used to work in unless it's my own office. When I stop poker I want to largely be my own boss and have my own venture.
Could do some import of stuff from Asia if you plan on staying out there. Ive tested the water with a few things on a small scale, but to do it on a decent scale you need someone you really trust on the other side to do the selling on in one form or another.

Surprised at people suggesting bars/restaurants. Seems like the nut worst thing to do in my opinion.
There is a reason the main people who open restaurants are chefs, already rich people and idiots open resturants.
There are loads of ways to make money you just have to find your faviourte way. If your good at sales you'll always have a chance at giving a business a go. I wouldn't bin off your writing abilities either, I would try to use them to help boost any venture you went into either via blogging or other means!

thats why you invest with people, im not saying that he should just go and open a nandos franchise by himself or start flipping burgers, I'm also not buying a bar by myself or pouring shots
I do it with a friend and another acquaintance who is a specialist in the industry. Theres so many investment options out there. I'm sure theres an angels investors meeting once a week in Nottingham somewhere, or an entrepreneur society at the local university with loads of clever kids with good ideas, etc etc etc
