Came 25th in the 2k. The profits from which I immediately spent on a 3.2k turbo satellite to the 25k, and then a 1.1k re-entry shortly after.

Got in just in time with 10k at 2/400 and span that up to 143k for day 2 which must be around the chip lead. Happy with that.

Potential trip saver with 60 odd left and 70k ftw, but will need top 5 I imagine!

Keith scraped a cash in the 2k as well, but it's been pretty bleak overall for the team. Every single person I've spoken to says its the best EPT stop they've ever been to. Lowering the buy-in of the main to 5k was clearly a great move. It's awesome here. Though haven't really had time to relax and enjoy the place, but a nice stroll from the apartment to the casino takes about 40 minutes and is along the sea front is really nice. Haven't come here for relaxing though, it's work work work - now just gotta hope it pays off.

So I came 13th in the 1k. Held the chip lead or near enough for most of the tournament until the final 3 tables / it became important to win all-ins. Boo hoo waah waah.

But still, 4.8k to the kitty....Which again, was promptly dished out to a 550 hyper win the button (!), 1.1k turbo and 2.2k 8max.

The 2.2k was a real nasty one though. It was the most incredible 2k I've ever seen. Unreal value. Literally unreal in my case. I had such high hopes during this, I had treble average for a decent period, always at least double average, but it was pretty turbo-y then lost a pretty sick cooler to bust 15 off the money, though if I'm being honest, I called off on the river when I shouldn't have done.

It was the kind of call you don't make at the start of the trip, but when you're 15k in the hole and you're just fed up, you lose the discipline to make such folds and that's disappointing. Because everyone does it, and that's what makes these late side events so profitable, even the good regs are mostly over it and play shit.

So this was a bit of a knife to the stomach where I was in great shape to get a 3rd cash (which would've been nice) and again, only a handful of people away from a nice score (92k) but you can't go to these festivals expecting to win every time and this time gotta just take it on the chin and come back stronger next year. It wasn't meant to be.

Monte Carlo whacked us all. Stato, Keith and the Deadmans. Not very often have we all come away pretty hefty losers on an EPT stop. And it just so happens to be the one we agreed was the best value! Stupid game.

I love this place to bits, in fact, it would be my favourite EPT stop, if it had reasonably priced good food options nearby and nightlife so no it doesn't beat Prague and Barcelona yet. But value terms, EV wise, this is the best and I think it's also in the most beautiful setting.

Au revoir.

Thanks for the updates Alex. For those stuck in the world of traditional work they provide a slight break from the other grind. It's a great spot and doesn't have to cost the earth. Good luck on the next trip.

Alex - in terms of food options if you walk into France (about 10-15 minutes from the venue) you can get a really nice Chinese/Moroccon/Italian two course meal for €25. There's a baguette place and a supermarket too. Not always possible obv when you're playing and have limited time on breaks.

If you're back next year lmk and I'll give you directions.

Cheers guys, nice to know they're being read and enjoyed.

Your updates & Diary are amongst the most read threads on blonde, Alex, but the way we react to Diaries is changing, due to social-media, Twitter & just the way we do things these days.

Just because you don't get much by way of replies does not mean folks are not reading & enjoying your stuff.

In a nutshell, that's why blonde is slowly dying - it's down to modern society, & all the pleasant variety of pressure on our time.

In short - please keep writing. You have a ton of goodwill here.

Incidentally, did Big Mitch not attend the Monaco affair?

Does he have to get a Pass these days, so to speak?

Big Mitch has got Little Mitch to worry about these days. Isaac Johnson is about 6 weeks old so Mitch isn't quite as free to roam about Europe as he once was.
