Sitting in the Golden Nugget last night - imagine the surpise when the dealer puts the flop out...... TWO queen of hearts !!

Obviously the floor man was a little embarrased, but I couldn't believe it when he said "Oh, this happens sometimes" !!!

Anyone else seen this ??

Luke.

Hi Luke, heres a true story I wrote a few months back.....

"......This happened early this morning in a 100 cash game at Notts.

We are playing Dealers Choice, 5 card Omaha. On a board of 9-9-A-7-4 there is some particularly aggressive raising & re-raising. 2 players end up all-in, (Hubert & Javid), one other player (Lawrence Gosney) still has chips. Hubert turns over 9-A for 9's over A's. Javid turns over 9-7 for 9's over 7's.

So what?

Well a player who had passed pre-flop claimed HE had passed a 9 - impossible, all 4 are accounted for. He delves into the muck &, sure enough, retrieves another 9 - the fifth 9.....!

But wait.....

Lawrence Gosney has still not released his hand, & is looking uncharacteristically puzzled. He then turns over HIS hand, x-x-x-x-9........

There could be a serious bad beat story there somewhere........

Oh, & for the record, the "winner" quickly agreed that all monies in the substantial pot - probably 600 or 700 - should be returned to the players, & the hand voided.

Does anybody know if he was obliged to do this, except as a moral gesture? If a ruling had been called for, what would the correct ruling have been?...."

The ruling in this instance was that the dud queen was taken out, the pack shuffled (don't know why) and play would continue.

I questioned the ruling, and everyone agreed to split the pot..

But for the experienced floorman to say that this happens was quite amusing !!

Luke i actually remember reading that last year during the wsop main event very early on 2 players got all in with a board of K73 both had top set!

I am sure there is a reason that the dealer checks the cards when he gets a new pack, and makes it perfectly possible for the players to do so also. I know i always do.

Don't be arguing or getting clever Luke. The Racing Post said "young-ish", & that's good enough. Claire says I am like a young man, too.

I played in a $200 rebuy tourney in Florida Hard Rock Casino in January, when a player moves all in out of turn. The dealer says, "It's not your turn, sir!" He replies "I have to, I have pocket 8 of clubs!"

I believe about 15 years ago in Nottm. Kim had back to back KK

On closer inspection they were both !

They were probably BOTH dud. Knowing how lucky Luke Smith is (TheDoc12345) he probably had the real one in his hand - with another Q, just to be sure.

He is a seriously lucky fish - in fact you maybe recall, he won one of your festival comps in Blackpool. His good lady, Claire, is about 20 years younger than him, maybe more. And she's really rather pleasant, too.

And just to give you boys a treat, here is Claire (on the left as we look), & thats Anne on the right, who is the other half of Nottingham Nick Gibson.

Luke & Nick are both in Vegas right now, so tikay is doing the honourable thing, & taking care of them both. So to speak.
